More than 300 children in Son La receive free cardiovascular examinations

Examination subjects include: children who have been detected to have congenital heart disease need to be monitored and checked periodically; children suspected of having congenital heart disease and children who need to be examined and detected for cardiovascular diseases early.

At the program, doctors from the Cardiovascular Center - E Hospital directly examined cardiovascular clinics, ultrasounds and prescribed necessary paraclinical tests.

For cases of cardiovascular disease detection, doctors conduct consultations, advise on treatment and complete referral procedures when necessary. Children from poor households and policy families diagnosed with congenital heart disease will be instructed to prepare documents to consider supporting free heart surgery, funded by Vietnam Children's Fund.

Doctor Mai Lan Huong, Deputy Director of Son La General Hospital, said: The program is of great significance in early detection of cardiovascular diseases in children, especially congenital heart disease. screening and consultation right in the province helps many families in remote areas reduce travel costs, and promptly advise on appropriate treatment for children.

Not taking the long way to take his child for examination, Mr. Lo Van Hai, Phieng Khoai commune, Yen Chau district, shared: "My house is nearly 100 km from the Provincial General Hospital, so my family had to proactively catch a bus early in the morning. Hearing the news of a free heart examination program for children, I was very happy to have the opportunity to have my child carefully examined by central doctors.

According to the Organizing Committee, the program not only helps detect and promptly intervene in cardiovascular diseases in children but also strengthens coordination and professional support between Son La Provincial General Hospital and E Hospital; thereby contributing to improving the professional capacity of the provincial health sector.

At the same time, the activity also spreads the humanitarian meaning in community health care, contributing to the effective implementation of the Action Program for Children of Son La province for the period 2021-2030.

Within the framework of the program, many gifts including cakes and milk were also given to children for screening, creating a warm atmosphere, encouraging families to feel secure in taking their children for health check-ups.
