Hai Phong strives to be the leading marine science center in the country by 2045
Hai Phong - The City People's Committee has just approved the marine Science and Technology Program (KHCN) until 2030.
According to the program, Hai Phong aims to strive to become a center for training, research and development of marine science and technology equivalent to the top regions in Southeast Asia by 2030; strive to become the leading marine science center in the country by 2045, playing a leading role in the Asia - Pacific region.
To realize this vision, the city has set specific quantitative targets by 2030. In particular, the number of science and technology research tasks at the city level in the marine sector must account for 30% of the total number of tasks. Correspondingly, the budget for this activity also accounts for 30%. The city aims to form at least one key marine laboratory and a marine biotechnology center, along with a synchronous digital database; at least 60% of city-level science and technology results are applied in practice after 12 months of acceptance; form a digital database on the city's marine.
The program focuses on key contents such as research, application, and technology development in marine sectors and fields; innovation in marine fields; potential of marine science and technology; domestic and international cooperation in marine science and technology. The city will study marine space planning, green technology solutions and pollution treatment; focus on building a model for forecasting rising sea levels and ecological conservation solutions in Cat Ba and Bach Long Vy. Along with that, promote digitalization, application of artificial intelligence (AI) and IoT in seaport management; research and development of the "Green Sea Transport Corridor" connecting Hai Phong with the world and deploying the electrification of seaport equipment.
The city develops high-class tourism products associated with heritage conservation. In particular, applying digital technology to assess the environmental impact at beaches and tourist attractions; turning Hai Phong into a center for producing seafood varieties in the North. At the same time, study high-value subjects such as ripe fish stools, hay and develop medicinal herbs from marine life. Units survey the potential of offshore wind power, wave energy and tides; focus on solutions to treat occupational diseases for sea and island workers and health care for coastal communities...
The City People's Committee assigned the Department of Science and Technology to preside over and coordinate with relevant departments, branches and units to develop a plan to implement the marine science and technology program until 2030.
