An Giang's GRDP is estimated to increase by 8.39%

On the morning of December 29, the An Giang Provincial People's Council held a regular year-end meeting to evaluate the results of implementing socio-economic development tasks during the year and approved submissions with many important contents.

Speaking at the meeting, Chairman of the An Giang Provincial People's Council Nguyen Thanh Nhan said: In 2025, An Giang province will both carry out socio-economic development tasks and reorganize the apparatus with a large scale, depth and operate a new local government model.

In the face of many difficulties and challenges, under the direct and comprehensive leadership of the Provincial Party Committee, the drastic and flexible management of the Provincial People's Committee; especially the timely support, decision-making and close supervision of the Provincial People's Council; with the active participation of the Fatherland Front, socio-political organizations, the business community and the people, the province's socio-economic situation is basically stable and continues to develop.

24/26 socio-economic targets mainly met and exceeded the resolution; GRDP is estimated to increase by 8.39%; total budget revenue reached about VND 25,188 billion, basic spending and social security tasks were guaranteed. This is an important result, achieved in the context of the province both handling a large amount of work and organizing the arrangement and operation of the apparatus according to the new model.

Entering 2026 - the first year of the new term, the requirements for rapid and sustainable development, effective governance and operational efficiency for An Giang province are increasingly high. Therefore, the regular session at the end of 2025 is not only a session to evaluate the results of one year of work, the final regular session of the 10th term of the Provincial People's Council, but also an important session to enter a new term with the responsibility to effectively implement major orientations after the 1st An Giang Provincial Party Congress.

"The task of this session is not only to decide on regular tasks, but also to specify the direction, goals and implementation methods in the next development stage of the province, decide on fundamental issues, create a basis for implementing tasks of the first year of the new term and development orientation for the entire period of 2026 - 2030", Mr. Nguyen Thanh Nhan emphasized.

At this session, the Provincial People's Council will review, discuss and decide on important contents, focusing on 4 key groups of issues, including reviewing reports from the Provincial People's Committee and judicial agencies on the implementation of tasks in 2025 and the direction and tasks in 2026, as a basis for the Provincial People's Council to evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of government management and operation, promptly identifying issues that need to be focused on directing and operating in the coming period.

The Provincial People's Council will also decide on important and key resolutions such as the 5-year Socio-Economic Development Plan, period 2026 - 2030; Socio-Economic Development Plan for 2026 and resolutions on finance - budget, public investment, mechanisms and policies to concretize the Resolution of the An Giang Provincial Party Congress for the new term; thereby determining development goals, orientations, priority order and methods of mobilizing, allocating and effectively using resources for the new development period, ensuring rapid and sustainable growth and improving the quality of people's lives.

In particular, the session will have a question-and-answer session - this is the first session after the merger of the question-and-answer session, aiming to focus on clarifying issues arising from practice that voters and people are interested in, requiring competent authorities and leaders to explain and commit to solutions to overcome them, thereby creating substantial changes in the organization and implementation of tasks, strengthening discipline, order and improving the effectiveness and efficiency of state management in the coming time.
