Red River Festival 2025 opens brilliantly in Lao Cai

On the evening of November 19, at Nam Cuong Square (Cam Duong Ward), the 2025 Red River Festival officially opened with the theme "Where the Red River flows into Vietnam".

The program was attended by Mr. Nguyen Hai Ninh - Member of the Party Central Committee, Minister of Justice; representatives of central ministries, departments, branches and provinces and cities across the country.

On the Lao Cai side, there were Mr. Trinh Viet Hung - Alternate Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; Mr. Nguyen Tuan Anh - Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee and leaders of departments and branches.

On the Chinese side, there were Ms. La Binh - representative of Chau Hong Ha, head of the delegation of Yunnan province; along with that, there were also ambassadors of Laos and Malaysia in Vietnam.

In his opening speech, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Tuan Anh emphasized that the 2025 Red River Festival has a special meaning as it takes place at the time when Lao Cai province has just been established on the basis of merging Lao Cai and Yen Bai provinces. This is a milestone opening a new development journey, demonstrating the desire for integration and growth of the locality.

According to Mr. Nguyen Tuan Anh, 2025 is the first time Lao Cai has organized a Red River festival, launching a project for the period 2025 - 2035.

The event is an important cultural and economic highlight to honor the historical value of the Red River civilization, nurture national pride, while promoting socio-economic development and expanding the friendly relationship between the localities of the Red River basin (Vietnam) and Yunnan province (China).

Within the framework of the festival, people and tourists will be able to visit ethnic cultural spaces, exhibit publications about the Red River and participate in many artistic and commercial exchange activities.

In particular, the program recreating "Ancient Coc Leu Market" from November 18 to 24 at Coc Leu Market and An Duong Vuong Street; The 25th Vietnam - China International Trade Fair will take place from November 19 to 24 at the Kim Thanh Exhibition - Exhibition Center.

The 2025 Red River Festival is not only a cultural festival but also an important political and diplomatic activity, contributing to the implementation of the goal of developing a cultural industry associated with tourism - making culture a driving force for sustainable development. The event is also a forum for exchanges and enhancement of cooperation between Vietnam and China.

According to the reporter's records on the evening of November 19, thousands of people and tourists were present at the opening ceremony, enjoying the elaborately staged art performances, making a strong impression on the opening night.

Ms. Bui Thi Phuong (Cam Duong ward) shared: "This year's festival is so big, there are many other attractive activities. Taking advantage of the evening, my children and I went to the square to attend the opening ceremony. Today's atmosphere is extremely bustling, attracting a large number of people and tourists to attend".
