14th National Party Congress: A special milestone in the process of innovation and integration

During nearly 100 years of leading the revolution, the Communist Party of Vietnam has gone through 13 Congresses, each Congress is an important milestone, bringing the country overcoming difficulties and achieving great achievements.

The 14th Congress is of special significance when summarizing 40 years of renovation, affirming that the Party's renovation guidelines are correct, creative, and in line with Vietnamese practice and the development trend of the times.

At the 6th National Congress (1986), the Party set out a comprehensive reform policy for the country, achieving great achievements. This is the beginning of the country's comprehensive innovation. By the 11th National Congress, our Party will continue to orient towards improving the Party's leadership capacity and fighting strength, comprehensively promoting the renovation process.

By the 13th Congress term, the Party had led our people to achieve great achievements. Up to now, after nearly 40 years of renovation, under the leadership of the Party, our country has overcome all difficulties, reaching great achievements of historical significance.

Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Viet Thao - former Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics - assessed that we have come out of a state of stagnation, entering the group of developing countries with average incomes. This is an achievement of great historical significance, opening a new history for the Vietnamese people.

40 years of renovation have created a historic turning point, helping the country overcome the state of stagnant development, gradually perfecting a socialist-oriented market economy.

From a backward agricultural country, Vietnam has become a large-scale economy in the region. In 2025, GDP will reach more than 500 billion USD, the fourth largest economy in ASEAN and 32nd in the world; trade turnover reaching over 900 billion USD is in the top 20 countries. Vietnam continues to be a bright spot in economic recovery and growth in the context of many fluctuations globally.

A big step in the thinking of national development

The 14th National Party Congress marked a major shift in the country's development thinking; in which, taking innovation as motivation, taking people and culture as a foundation, taking independence and self-reliance associated with extensive integration as a motto for action. This is the time when Vietnam affirms its aspiration to rise, open up knowledge potential, improve competitiveness and move towards rapid and sustainable development. The 14th Congress is not only a political determination, but a spirit of the times, a spirit of bringing Vietnam strongly into the new era.

The theme of the 14th Congress affirmed: "Staily moving towards socialism" is a consistent continuation of the strategic stance; clearly and decisively affirming the path to socialism of Vietnam. This is an affirmation of special significance in the context of a world with many complex fluctuations in development models and value systems.

"Stabilization" shows steadfastness, but at the same time contains a spirit of innovation, creativity, flexibility in methods, steps and implementation solutions, suitable to the specific conditions of Vietnam in each historical period.

The highlight of the 14th Congress is the convergence and crystallization of long-term strategic thinking. The Congress not only looks at the immediate term or a 5-year period, but puts the country in a multi-decade vision, associated with important development milestones of the nation.

That is the vision of a rapidly developing but sustainable economy, based on science - technology, innovation, digital transformation and green economy. That is the vision of the Vietnamese people as the center, the subject, and the driving force for development.

General Secretary To Lam pointed out that the strategic vision of the 14th National Congress is also associated with very clear milestones: Selecting policy decisions to successfully implement the goals by 2030 and realizing the vision to 2045. These are "milestones" to strive for, so that each industry, each locality, each agency and each citizen can see that they have a specific part to do in the common journey".

This assessment not only affirms the stature and significance of the Congress, but also sets a very high requirement for historical responsibility for each decision passed. Each decision is aimed at the goal of prosperity and happiness of the people, for the prosperity of the country. Therefore, the 14th National Party Congress is also a place where the will, aspirations, initiatives and aspirations of cadres, party members and people of all walks of life converge.
