Announcing the results of the election of National Assembly and People's Council deputies at all levels earliest on March 22
It is expected that the election of National Assembly deputies of the 16th term and People's Council deputies at all levels will take place on March 15; the results will be announced as early as March 22, 2026.
On February 3, in Hanoi, under the chairmanship of Politburo Member, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man, the National Assembly Standing Committee (NASC) opened the 54th Session.
Speaking at the opening of the session, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man stated clearly that at the Session, the NASC will focus on discussing a number of important contents.
In which, consider and approve the Resolution supplementing a number of special mechanisms and policies for investing in the construction of Ninh Thuan Nuclear Power Project.
The NASC also considered the National Assembly's Report on People's Petition work in January 2026.
The NASC listened to the initial report on the policy of building the revised Capital Law; considered and approved the Resolution adjusting for the second time the structure, composition, and number of people of agencies, organizations, and units at the central and local levels introduced to run for National Assembly deputies (NA deputies) of the 16th term.
National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man said that although the number of contents is not large, it is very important, of great significance, associated with ensuring national energy security implemented in the spirit of Resolution No. 70-NQ/TW of the Politburo and Resolution of the National Assembly to develop the country sustainably in the new period.
At the same time, prepare for the upcoming successful election of National Assembly Deputies of the 16th term and People's Council deputies at all levels.
Regarding some draft laws and ordinances expected to be submitted at the February Session but the submitting agency has not yet completed the dossier as required, the National Assembly Chairwoman said that the NASC will consider and give opinions at the March Session.
The National Assembly Chairwoman requested that the drafting agency and the appraisal agency urgently coordinate closely and highly focus on preparation work, ensuring progress and quality of dossiers; absolutely do not let work be pushed to the April session.
The draft laws submitted at the 1st Session of the 16th National Assembly need to complete the dossiers for the National Assembly Standing Committee to give opinions no later than the March 2026 Session.
It is expected that the election of National Assembly deputies and People's Council deputies at all levels will take place on March 15, 2026; the results will be announced earliest on March 22, 2026 and on April 6, 2026, the 1st Session of the 16th National Assembly will open.
The National Assembly Chairwoman requested the Ethnic Council and the Committees of the National Assembly to closely coordinate with the Government and relevant ministries and sectors to review the laws that have been promulgated in the past, systematize and immediately handle any problems that may arise in order to ensure intercommunication and minimize points that may cause congestion during operation.
At the same time, absolutely avoid unnecessary procedures, thereby best ensuring the legitimate and lawful rights and interests of the People and the business community.
The National Assembly Chairwoman also proposed that agencies thoroughly grasp the spirit of the 14th Party Congress Resolution, especially the requirement to strongly shift from policy to action, from political determination to specific results.
Each agency and unit, first of all the head, must be directly responsible for the progress and quality of each assigned task; ensuring that the programs and plans of the National Assembly and the NASC are implemented seriously, synchronously, and effectively right from the beginning of the year and the beginning of the term.
The National Assembly Chairwoman also requested members of the NASC to closely follow practical requirements, give key opinions, and clearly express their views.
Those contents that are clear should be decided immediately, those contents that are not ripe should continue to be improved; ensuring that the contents are decided in accordance with authority, highly feasible and meet practical requirements" - the National Assembly Chairwoman emphasized.
