Cao Bang continues to classify provincial and commune-level administrative units
Cao Bang - The Provincial People's Committee has just issued a plan on the classification of administrative units.
On January 18, according to PV's research, the People's Committee of Cao Bang province has just issued Plan No.7/KH-UBND on the classification of provincial and commune-level administrative units in the area according to the provisions of Decree 307/2025/ND-CP of the Government.
Accordingly, the classification aims to evaluate administrative units based on the criteria of population size, natural area, socio-economic development conditions and specific factors.
The classification will serve as a basis for building a organizational apparatus, planning development policies and implementing regimes and policies for cadres and civil servants.
The plan is implemented when the Department of Home Affairs takes the lead in preparing documents, scoring criteria for the provincial level, completing the dossier to report to the Provincial People's Committee and submitting it to the Ministry of Home Affairs before April 1, 2026.
For the commune, ward and locality levels, they will prepare documents, score, and send them to the Department of Home Affairs before April 30, 2026; the appraisal and classification decision will be completed before June 30, 2026.
The Provincial People's Committee requires the work of reviewing and collecting statistics to ensure accuracy, objectivity, and compliance with regulations; agencies and units are responsible for data under their management. The assessment data is calculated as of December 31, 2025.
It is known that after the arrangement of the 2-level government apparatus, Cao Bang province formed 56 commune-level administrative units (53 communes, 3 wards).
Public information from the People's Committee of Cao Bang province, the locality currently has a total natural area of 6,700.39 km2, population of about 600,000 people.
