Can Tho establishes 28 Election Committees of the City People's Council, term 2026 - 2031
Can Tho - The Chairman of the People's Committee of Can Tho City has just signed a decision to establish the Election Committees of the People's Council of Can Tho City, term 2026 - 2031.
According to the decision, Can Tho City will establish 28 Election Committees in 28 units to conduct the election of City People's Council delegates for the 2026 - 2031 term. The Election Committees are responsible for checking and urging the preparation and posting of voter lists; receiving nomination documents; reporting on the election organization situation and transferring documents to the City Election Committee according to regulations.
On behalf of the National Election Council, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man - Chairman of the National Election Council, signed and issued Resolution No. 85/NQ-HDBCQG dated December 15, 2025 on the number of elected units, the list of elected units and the number of National Assembly deputies elected in each election unit of provinces and cities.
In the Resolution, the National Election Council resolved: The total number of units electing 16th National Assembly members nationwide is 182. Of which, Can Tho City has 6 elected units with 18 elected National Assembly deputies.
The election of 16th National Assembly deputies and People's Council deputies at all levels for the 2026-2031 term will take place on Sunday, March 15, 2026.
According to the plan, the People's Council of Can Tho City for the 2026 - 2031 term will elect 85 delegates from 150 candidates, ensuring harmony in composition, gender, ethnicity and age; allocated to the Party, government, armed forces, the Fatherland Front, unions, religious organizations, economy, socio-professional and commune and ward levels.
