Can Tho aims to strive to become a national growth pole
Can Tho - The 1st Can Tho City Party Congress, term 2025 - 2030, determined the goal of striving to become a national growth pole by 2030.
On the morning of September 27, the Can Tho City Party Committee solemnly opened the 1st Congress of Delegates, term 2025 - 2030, with the participation of 484 official delegates, representing more than 143,000 Party members in the entire City Party Committee.
Mr. Tran Thanh Man, Politburo member, Chairman of the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, on behalf of the Politburo attended and directed the Congress.
Speaking at the opening of the Congress, Mr. Do Thanh Binh, member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Can Tho City Party Committee, emphasized: The 1st Can Tho City Congress of Delegates, of special historical significance, is the Congress "Solidarity - Democracy - Discipline - Breakthrough - Development", with a heroic revolutionary tradition, with the strength of great solidarity and the desire to rise up.
The Secretary of the Can Tho City Party Committee suggested that from the results of the Congress at the grassroots level, with rich practical experience, the delegates actively participate in evaluating and highlighting the achievements; at the same time, frankly acknowledge the shortcomings, limitations, and analyze the causes, especially the subjective causes in leading and directing the implementation of the Resolution of the Party Congress for the 2020 - 2025 term. The review work must be serious, comprehensive, objective, and honest.
Delegates will discuss in depth to clarify the results and development orientation, thereby building a realistic action program, turning vision into reality. At the same time, discuss and approve the Report on synthesizing comments from Party committees, cadres, Party members and people on the draft Documents submitted to the 14th National Congress of Delegates, demonstrating the responsibility and affection of the Party Committee and people of Can Tho for important issues of the Party and the country.
The Secretary of the Can Tho City Party Committee emphasized that with the theme "Promoting the tradition of solidarity; building and rectifying the Party and the political system to be clean and strong in all aspects; mobilizing all resources, breakthroughs, creativity, international integration, developing Can Tho city quickly, sustainably and modernly", and with the goals and tasks set by the Congress as very heavy but extremely honorable and glorious, it is the responsibility of the Party Committee, government and people, especially the delegates attending.
Following the historical and revolutionary tradition of our homeland, we must not stop or be satisfied with the achievements, but must continue to strive, pioneer, promote the great solidarity bloc, successfully carry out the goals and tasks of the Congress, build Can Tho City to be more civilized and modern, meeting the trust and expectations of the people and the Central Government, the Secretary of the City Party Committee emphasized.
Presenting the Political Report at the Congress, Mr. Tran Van Lau - Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of Can Tho City - said: During the term of the Party Committee, the government and the people have promoted solidarity and achieved many comprehensive results. The economy has grown well, the structure has shifted in the right direction, GRDP per capita and labor productivity have increased rapidly. The investment environment has improved, PCI is quite diverse, attracting many FDI and ODA projects; key processing industry, trade, modern services, high-tech agriculture, synchronous infrastructure.
Science, technology and digital transformation have made progress, gradually building a digital government. The role of a specialized education and health center is affirmed; timely social security policies, poverty reduction, temporary housing elimination, and women's empowerment. National defense and security are strengthened, social order is maintained.
The Congress also set a common goal for the 2025 - 2030 period. The city aims to strive to become a growth pole of the country by 2030, a center for trade, logistics, marine economy, processing industry, digital technology, high-tech agriculture, intensive education - healthcare, startups and innovation, building Can Tho people rich in identity, prosperous and happy life. By 2045, strive to be in the group of well-developed cities in Asia.
To realize this, the City Party Committee set 28 targets. At the same time, identify 5 key tasks, 3 breakthroughs and 10 groups of solutions for the 2025 - 2030 term.
