Bac Lieu and Ca Mau will have 64 communes and wards after the merger
Bac Lieu - After merging the two provinces of Bac Lieu and Ca Mau, Ca Mau province will have 64 communes and wards after the merger. All are named, no commune or ward numbers in order.
On the afternoon of April 22, in Bac Lieu city, the Standing Committee of Bac Lieu Provincial Party Committee and the Standing Committee of Ca Mau Provincial Party Committee met to give comments on the draft project to merge the two provinces under the chairmanship of the Provincial Party Committee Secretaries of the two provinces.
Draft Project to reorganize Bac Lieu and Ca Mau provinces on the basis of merging 2 provincial-level administrative units (ADUs) and reorganizing grassroots-level ADUs. According to the draft project after the reorganization, Ca Mau province has two-level government in accordance with the Constitution (amended), Law on Organization of Local Government (amended); promoting the potential and advantages of the two provinces in terms of land area, population size, economic growth results; supporting each other to promote the common socio-economic development of provincial-level administrative units after the reorganization.
After the arrangement, Ca Mau province has a natural area of 7,942.38km2 (reaching 159% of the standard), a population of 2,606,672 people (reaching 186% of the standard) and 64 affiliated administrative units (55 communes and 9 wards).
The administrative - political center of the administrative units of Ca Mau province after the merger is located at No. 02, Hung Vuong Street, Ward 5, Ca Mau City, Ca Mau Province.
Notably, in 64 commune-level administrative units after the arrangement, there are no administrative units with consecutive numbers or combinations of directions: east, west, south, north behind the place names; administrative units are the names of historical figures with both family names and names adjusted, not abbreviated as: Phan Ngoc Hien commune (formerly Ngoc Hien), Quach Van Pham (formerly Quach Pham)...
The conference also commented on many issues related to current socio-economic data of the two localities, the reason for choosing Ca Mau province (currently) as the place to place the administrative - political center of Ca Mau province after the merger; the positive and negative impacts of the merger, the plan to reorganize the apparatus, the staff...
Speaking at the conference, comrade Lu Van Hung - Secretary of the Bac Lieu Provincial Party Committee, Head of the Steering Committee for the development of the project to merge Bac Lieu and Ca Mau provinces - highly appreciated the spirit and work results of the drafting agency of the Project. In the coming time, the leaders of the two provinces will continue to discuss the headquarters of the agency after the merger, ensuring the settlement of administrative procedures for people and businesses.
He also informed that it is expected that on the morning of April 28, the People's Council of Bac Lieu province will meet to issue a Resolution approving the Project to merge Bac Lieu province and Ca Mau province as a basis for submitting to the central government for decision according to regulations.
