The 14th National Party Congress solemnly opened in Hanoi
Today (January 20), the 14th National Congress of the Party (14th National Congress) solemnly opened at the National Convention Center (Hanoi).
The 14th National Congress was attended by 1,586 delegates, representing more than 5.6 million Party members nationwide. This is a particularly important political event, demonstrating the Party's intelligence, bravery and great responsibility towards the Vietnamese revolution in the new era; having the strategic orientation of the country's development path.
The 14th National Party Congress took place in a context of rapid international and regional changes, many uncertainties, and very complicated and unpredictable developments. After 40 years of renovation, the foundation, potential, position and international prestige have been raised to a new height.
The 14th Congress will continue to arouse the aspiration to develop a prosperous and happy country, taking Vietnam firmly forward, standing shoulder to shoulder with the world powers in the new era.
With the motto "Solidarity - Democracy - Discipline - Breakthrough - Development", the Congress determined the thinking, vision, and strategic decisions to help us firmly move forward in the new era, successfully implementing the country's development goals by 2030 when our Party celebrates 100 years of establishment (1930 - 2030); realizing the development vision to 2045, celebrating the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (1945 - 2045).
The theme of the 14th National Party Congress is: "Under the glorious flag of the Party, join hands and be determined to successfully implement the country's development goals by 2030; be self-reliant, confident, and move forward strongly in the era of national growth, for peace, independence, democracy, prosperity, prosperity, civilization, happiness, and steadily moving towards socialism".
The 14th National Party Congress is expected to work until January 25, 2026.

Previously, in the special session on the morning of January 19, the entire Congress observed a minute of silence to commemorate the late General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and the members of the 13th Party Central Committee who passed away during his term.
The Congress voted in favor and highly unanimously approved the Preliminary Session Program, the Congress Working Regulations, the Congress Working Regulations and the Election Regulations at the 14th National Congress of the Party.
The Congress elected a Presidium consisting of 16 Politburo members. The Congress elected a Secretariat consisting of 5 comrades and an Inspection Committee of the delegation status attending the Congress consisting of 13 comrades.
The Congress voted in favor and highly agreed to approve the Report on the appraisal of the status of delegates of the 14th National Party Congress submitted by the Delegation status Inspection Committee.
Yesterday morning, before the opening of the adjournment session, delegates attending the Congress visited President Ho Chi Minh's Mausoleum. After that, Politburo members, the Secretariat and Heads of Delegations of Party Committees directly under the Central Committee attended the Congress to lay wreaths and offer incense at the Monument to the Heroes and Martyrs.
