On the morning of December 31, the Standing Committee of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) organized a scientific workshop on innovating the content and methods of operation of the VFF and socio-political organizations on ethnic work and religious work in the new period.
Dr. Nguyen Van Thanh - Member of the Presidium, Head of the Ethnic and Religious Affairs Committee, Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front said that currently, our country's religious people have about 27 million people, accounting for nearly 1/3 of the population, if including those with beliefs and religions, they account for over 95% of the country's population; ethnic minorities currently have over 14.4 million people, accounting for about 15% of the population.
According to Dr. Nguyen Van Thanh, these are special groups of people, and at the same time, they are a very important part of the great national unity bloc. The mobilization and gathering to build the great national unity bloc is the first important function and task stipulated in the Constitution, the Law on the Vietnam Fatherland Front and many other legal documents. Therefore, the work of mobilizing, gathering, and uniting ethnic groups and religions is a special area of work, regulated by the Party and the State as a very important task of the Vietnam Fatherland Front at all levels. Thereby gathering and building the great national unity bloc, building and defending the Fatherland.
Dr. Nguyen Van Thanh said that currently, the overseas Vietnamese community has over 6.2 million people, distributed unevenly in more than 130 countries and territories around the world, of which over 50% of overseas Vietnamese are followers of different religions such as Buddhism, Catholicism, Linh Dinh, Cao Dai, Hoa Hao Buddhism, Islam... Our Party and State always consider the overseas Vietnamese community as an inseparable part and a resource of the Vietnamese ethnic community, an important part of the great national unity bloc.
According to Dr. Nguyen Van Thanh, the Vietnam Fatherland Front is an organization of political alliance, voluntary association, the center and common home of the great national unity bloc, with a very important role and responsibility in gathering, mobilizing, and uniting ethnic minorities and people of all religions, connecting ethnic groups and religions with all classes, classes, and other components of society to build and protect the Fatherland.
At the workshop, delegates contributed many opinions, focusing on solutions to innovate the content and methods of operation of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and socio-political organizations on ethnic work and religious work in the new period.
Dr. Ngo Sach Thuc - former Vice Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front proposed that in order to effectively carry out ethnic and religious work in the new period, it is necessary to promote the proactiveness, positivity, creativity, and role of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and socio-political organizations in grasping the situation and propagating, mobilizing, educating, persuading and supervising implementation to unite the people, ensuring good implementation of policies and laws on ethnic and religion.
Along with that, innovate the organization and implementation of campaigns and patriotic emulation movements of the Vietnam Fatherland Front among ethnic groups and religions.

Dr. Ngo Sach Thuc also emphasized the need to promptly reflect the thoughts and aspirations of people of all ethnic groups and religions.
Accordingly, it is necessary to proactively grasp and fully and promptly gather the thoughts and aspirations of dignitaries, organizations and people of all religions to report to the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and make recommendations to local Party committees and authorities to resolve them according to the provisions of law; apply digital technology to communicate policies, provide the content that each citizen needs, and thereby grasp the thoughts and aspirations of people of all ethnic groups and religions.
In addition, it is necessary to supervise the implementation of policies and laws on ethnic groups and religions, and recommend solutions to effectively implement ethnic and religious work.
Dr. Trieu Van Binh - Director of the Ethnic Affairs Department, National Assembly Ethnic Council said that in the context of innovating the model of organizing the apparatus and operating local governments at two levels, the requirements for the Vietnam Fatherland Front and socio-political organizations are increasingly comprehensive and complex. Therefore, the implementation of solutions must be systematic, multidimensional, integrating mechanism innovation, enhancing staff capacity, promoting the role of the community and strongly applying digital technology.
Dr. Trieu Van Binh said that one of the tasks in the coming time is to improve the capacity of the staff. Accordingly, training on mass mobilization skills, dialogue, digital communication, and resolution of social conflicts; strengthening sociological investigation to serve the forecast of the ethnic-religious situation.
In addition, it is proposed to rotate cadres between the Front and the government to improve practical experience; create a mechanism to encourage young cadres with the capacity to participate in the work of the Front...
