99% of households with houses damaged by natural disasters in Lao Cai have started construction
Lao Cai - The province is determined to ensure that 100% of households with houses damaged by natural disasters will start construction before the Lunar New Year 2026.
On December 29, information from the People's Committee of Lao Cai province said that according to statistics, the whole province has 1,116 households affected by natural disasters. Of which, 83 houses were completely collapsed; 366 houses had to be urgently relocated to build new houses; 58 houses were severely damaged and 609 houses had their roofs blown off and damaged over 30% of the area. Localities have implemented support in accordance with regulations, not overlapping with previously implemented programs.
To date, 1,115 units have been started, reaching 99.9%. Of these, 818 houses have been completed and are being urgently handed over so that people can celebrate Tet at their new homes in time. Only one household due to family matters will start construction in early January 2026, ensuring completion on schedule in the whole province.

To achieve the above progress, Lao Cai mobilizes all forces at the grassroots level such as the army, police, militia, and unions, along with the cooperation of organizations, businesses and the community. Localities are required to prioritize starting construction as soon as households are eligible; in cases where there is no land or not ready, support will be provided to complete in 2026.
At the same time, resources are allocated flexibly and for the right purpose. The Provincial Fatherland Front Committee has allocated more than 45 billion VND to localities to support according to the construction progress. The province has allocated an additional VND610 million from the budget to support houses with unroofed and damaged roofs. Thien Tam Fund also contributed more than 3 billion VND to 82 houses damaged by storm No. 10.
During the implementation process, some households in particular need additional human resources to support construction; or build small-scale houses that do not meet technical requirements. Localities continue to guide and reinforce to ensure long-term safety and increase resilience to natural disasters.

Lao Cai province is continuing to closely monitor progress, inspect, monitor quality and publicize the use of funds.
Housing support not only ensures safe accommodation for people, but is also an important preparation step to help limit damage during the storm season in the coming years. Lao Cai is determined to complete the goal so that every family has a solid home and can welcome the new year peacefully.
