Da Nang Trade Union builds trust, creates consensus among workers

Associated with issues of concern to workers

In the context of increasingly multi-dimensional information, strong social network development and deep digital transformation, providing accurate and timely information to union members and workers has become an important requirement for the Trade Union organization.

Instead of just propaganda in the traditional way, the Da Nang City Labor Federation is diversifying forms, combining direct and online, and at the same time choosing content that is closer to life, employment and issues that workers are interested in.

Since the congress, the City Labor Federation has organized 50 direct propaganda classes for about 9,500 union members and workers; 2 legal advice conferences with more than 500 participants; a law-finding contest attracting more than 100 union members and workers.

The city trade union also organized 3 conferences "Listening to union members speak" in key industrial parks and economic zones with about 850 union members and workers participating. Commune and ward trade unions and grassroots trade unions also organized propaganda at nearly 70 locations, attracting about 6,200 people.

One of the notable points is that the City Trade Union organized a meeting and dialogue between the Delegation of National Assembly Deputies of Da Nang City, city leaders and union members and workers.

Ms. Phan Thi Thuy Linh - Chairwoman of the Da Nang City Labor Federation said that in the current conditions, propaganda to be effective must originate from the actual needs of union members and workers.

Workers need to be provided with accurate, easy-to-understand, and timely information, but equally important is to have an environment for them to express their thoughts, aspirations, and the problems they are facing. When information goes hand in hand with dialogue, listening, and resolving, trust in the Trade Union organization will be strengthened," Ms. Linh shared.

Building Trade Unions into reliable information channels

Along with direct propaganda, the Da Nang Trade Union is promoting communication activities on digital platforms.

Trade union levels have posted nearly 1,500 news, articles, and photos on the City Trade Union fanpage and about 1,000 news, articles, and photos on the City Trade Union Electronic Information Portal, thereby reaching about 85% of union members and workers.

In parallel with information transmission, grasping public opinion and thoughts of workers, civil servants, and laborers is emphasized. The network of reporters and propagandists continues to be strengthened to help the Trade Union organization detect early problems arising from the grassroots level.

According to Ms. Phan Thi Thuy Linh, the requirements set out in the coming time are not only to increase the amount of information but also to improve the quality, speed and persuasiveness of information.

The Trade Union must become an address for workers to come to when they need information about jobs, wages, social insurance, labor laws as well as when they need to reflect difficulties and obstacles. To do that, information must be accurate, fast, close, and especially issues reflected by workers must be monitored and proposed to be resolved to the end," Ms. Linh said.

According to Ms. Phan Thi Thuy Linh, propaganda innovation is not simply changing the way information is conveyed. The more important goal is to help workers understand policies correctly, know their rights and obligations, and have a place to speak out and be listened to.

When official information is closer to workers, when issues from the grassroots level are reflected and resolved promptly, trust will be nurtured.

And that belief is the foundation for building harmonious labor relations, strengthening the attachment of union members to the Trade Union organization and creating more consensus in the city's labor force.
