Workers hope to have more practical policies on housing and welfare
On the occasion of the 14th National Congress of the Party, a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper discussed with workers and union officials to acknowledge their recommendations and shares.
Mr. Nguyen Van Tan - Chairman of the Trade Union of Hosiden Vietnam Co., Ltd. (Bac Ninh province):
The country has relatively developed, so I hope that Vietnamese workers will have more holidays during the year. Recently, the Politburo issued Resolution No. 80-NQ/TW, in which it agreed to choose November 24 every year as "Vietnam Cultural Day", with the policy of being a day off, employees are entitled to full salary. This is very good news for employees.
Currently, the number of days off for Vietnamese workers is still low compared to the general level of countries in Asia. Having more days off will help employees have time to rest, regenerate labor; have more time with family to increase cohesion between members.
In addition to the extra day off, I also hope that employees will enjoy more better policies and regimes to help them ensure their income and increase the quality of life both materially and spiritually.
Ms. Do Thi Hien - an environmental sanitation worker at Bac Giang Urban Construction Management Joint Stock Company (Bac Ninh province):
As a direct worker and a Party member, I am very excited and looking forward to the 14th National Congress of the Party. I hope and expect that in the coming term, the Party will continue to have more policies and decisions to have more jobs for workers, increase wages, income, and working conditions for workers, especially for workers working in harsh and toxic environments.
I hope the Party will have direction to help public services further enhance their role and position. Thereby, better service to the community, including improving environmental sanitation, urban beautification and the lives of employees in the public service sector will also be improved.
MSc. Nguyen Ngoc Chien - Chairman of the grassroots trade union (CDCS) of Binh Duong University:
I hope that the 14th National Congress of the Party will make a breakthrough decision, close to reality, focusing on improving material life (social housing, schools for workers' children), spirit (cultural institutions), social security and better policies to ensure stable and secure working conditions for workers, promoting socio-economic development.
Working in the field of education, I especially hope that our Party will have more policies to pay attention to the education sector, especially in remote, isolated and disadvantaged areas; pay more attention to the teaching staff so that they can work with peace of mind, promote their intelligence and love for the profession, and contribute to building the development of Vietnamese education.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Mai Chi - Chairwoman of the Trade Union of New Apparel Far Eastern Vietnam Co., Ltd.:
As a grassroots union official, I expect the 14th National Congress of the Party to continue to pay more attention to the jobs, income and real life of workers. Hopefully the Party will have more practical policies on housing, welfare, and a safe working environment, helping employees feel secure in staying long-term.
Workers really need to be trained and improve their skills and digital skills to adapt to new requirements, not falling behind. I hope the role of the Trade Union organization will continue to be promoted more clearly, operating close to the grassroots, and truly being a support for union members. I believe that the 14th National Party Congress will select a team of leaders who are dedicated, capable, have decisions that are close to the people and feasible, contributing to improving the lives of workers and sustainable national development.
