Khanh Hoa is developing labor and employment policies to adapt to the increasingly rapid aging population.

On April 5, Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee announced that it had issued a project on labor and employment policies to adapt to the rapid aging population in the area.

The project sets a target that by 2030, the employment rate of workers aged 50 and over will reach at least 45% of the total labor force of the economy. At the same time, from 40% to 50% of middle-aged and elderly workers in need will be retrained, trained in skills and consulted, and introduced to jobs.

In addition, the rate of middle-aged and elderly workers participating in social insurance and health insurance will increase annually.

The province also aims to form and maintain job models suitable for the elderly in the community, businesses and the informal sector.

Job groups in the fields of high-quality tourism services, marine economy, care – social support will be prioritized for development.

Annually, strive for at least 50% of workers aged 35 to 55 receiving unemployment benefits to have the need to be retrained and have new jobs.

Notably, by 2030, the province aims to support at least 200 elderly people to start businesses, build 10 elderly startup models, and create jobs for at least 1,000 workers.

By 2035, this number is expected to increase to 250 people supported to start a business, maintain 10 models and create jobs for at least 2,000 workers.

Regarding mechanisms, Khanh Hoa will improve labor policies in the direction of adapting to the aging population, integrating the content of using older workers into socio-economic development programs.

Encourage businesses to recruit and train middle-aged and elderly workers; support improving safe working conditions, suitable for this labor group.

In addition, Khanh Hoa will build a labor database by age and skill, improve the quality of job demand forecasting, and develop online job services.

Khanh Hoa Employment Service Center will be upgraded to a focal point for organizing thematic job exchanges for workers aged 40 and over.
