Increase production capacity, improve welfare for workers from the 5S - Kaizen model
Lam Dong - Grassroots trade unions coordinate with companies to implement the 5S - Kaizen model to help improve the working environment, increase productivity and care for workers' lives.
On October 14, the Lam Dong Provincial Labor Federation said that the grassroots trade union of Hai Trieu Co., Ltd. is one of the 20 enterprises commended with the title "Exemplary Enterprise for Workers in 2026".
The enterprise has about 600 union members and employees, operating in the seafood processing sector in Phan Thiet Industrial Park.
Deploying and maintaining the 5S - Kaizen model
Mr. Vo Toan - Deputy Director of Hai Trieu Co., Ltd. - said that improving the labor environment and improving the capacity of workers is an important factor for businesses to increase competitiveness and meet the requirements of the export market.
In the period 2024-2026, the enterprise deploys and maintains the 5S - Kaizen model at 100% of departments and production workshops.
The company reviews and removes unnecessary items, rearranges the ground, walkways and labor tools more scientifically, helping workers operate conveniently.
The cleaning and inspection of machinery before and after each shift is maintained to detect unsafe risks. Workers are trained in industrial working style, complying with working hours and procedures.
According to business data, from 2024 to now, the company has not recorded any labor accidents, fire or environmental pollution incidents. All employees are equipped with standard protective equipment and have periodic health checks.
Improvements according to the Kaizen method focus on reducing redundant stages, limiting the time to search for raw materials and reducing heavy labor.
The company put the electronic scale system into use in 2024, operating ERP enterprise management software from 2025 to digitize processes, connect data and improve accuracy in quantification and packaging.
The business said that labor productivity has improved, and products meet international accreditation requirements, including SMETA assessment standards. The annual personnel turnover rate is maintained below 5%.
Linking productivity with employee welfare
Production efficiency is linked by businesses with increased monthly income and bonuses for the 13th month salary increasing year by year.
Workers are supported with all meal costs from 20,000 to 25,000 VND per meal, along with allowances for gasoline, housing, attendance bonuses and material allowances for work in hazardous environments.
Ms. Ung Thi Li La - Chairwoman of the grassroots Trade Union - said that activities such as summer tourism and Trade Union meals are organized regularly. The Trade Union also implements a lucky draw program to encourage union members to go to work early.
The movements of good labor, creative labor, improving productivity, quality and safety are promoted. From the reality of production, union members and workers have proposed and applied 10 solutions and technical innovation initiatives, contributing to cost savings and optimal operation.
Highly appreciating the working method at the Trade Union of Hai Trieu Co., Ltd., Mr. Nguyen Phu Hoang - Chairman of the Lam Dong Provincial Labor Federation - said that the model shows the companion role of the trade union organization in improving production and caring for workers.
