On a full-time day off on November 24, 95% of respondents agreed very highly
More than 95% of the 85,000 respondents expressed their high agreement with November 24 as "Vietnam Cultural Day", a day off with full salary.
Resolution No. 80-NQ/TW of the Politburo on the development of Vietnamese culture has just been issued, in which it is agreed to choose November 24 every year as "Vietnam Cultural Day", with the policy of being a day off, workers receiving full salary, so that people can improve their ability to enjoy culture, the team of artists are encouraged to be creative, the whole society promotes, and practice a cultural and civilized lifestyle.
Speaking to Lao Dong Newspaper reporters on the afternoon of January 13, Mr. Ngo Duy Hieu - Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor said that immediately after receiving Resolution No. 80-NQ/TW through the press, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor informed, shared and collected feedback from union members and workers. With more than 85,000 people having their opinions consulted, more than 95% expressed their great joy and agreement with the content of the Resolution agreeing to choose November 24 every year as "Vietnam Cultural Day", this day for workers to take a day off and receive full pay. The rest, the workers also expressed their agreement with this new day off.
Mr. Ngo Duy Hieu said that there are no specific plans, but the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor will certainly consider this an opportunity to organize activities to improve the spiritual and cultural life of union members and workers - a group that lacks many conditions to enjoy spiritual and cultural values, including the reason of time. This is a very good opportunity to organize cultural and sports playgrounds, bring workers to historical and cultural relics in the area or spend time with family members to share and honor Vietnamese family cultural values.
Currently, according to Article 112 of the 2019 Labor Code, employees are entitled to take a day off and receive full pay during the following holidays and Tet:
- New Year's Day: 1 day (January 1st of the lunar calendar).
- Lunar New Year: 5 days.
- Victory Day: 1 day (April 30th).
- International Labor Day: 1 day 1.5 days).
- National Day: 2 days (September 2 and 1 day before or after).
- Hung Vuong's Commemoration Day: 1 day (March 10.
