Dien Bien sets a target of admitting over 2,000 new union members
On the morning of December 22, the Dien Bien Provincial Federation of Labor officially opened the 13th Provincial Trade Union Congress, term 2025-2030. 150 delegates, representing over 7,000 union members across the province attended the congress.
Attending and directing the Congress were Mr. Phan Van Anh - Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor; Mr. Le Thanh Do - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Council of Dien Bien province.
Mr. Tan Minh Long - Chairman of the Dien Bien Provincial Federation of Labor - said that in the recent term, despite many difficulties and challenges, the trade unions at all levels of Dien Bien province have made many efforts in implementing the Resolution of the 12th Congress.
In the coming term, the Dien Bien Provincial Federation of Labor aims to develop and admit over 2,000 new union members; strive for 80% of enterprises with 10 or more stable employees to have a union organization. By the end of the term, strive for over 85% or more of enterprises and units with trade unions to sign collective labor agreements.
For the 2025-2030 term, the Dien Bien Provincial Trade Union identified digital transformation as an urgent task. The goal is for 100% of union members and workers to have updated knowledge, digital skills...
Speaking at the congress, Mr. Phan Van Anh - Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor - emphasized that in the current context, innovating the method of leading and directing trade union activities is an urgent requirement.
In particular, when there are no more unions at the grassroots level, the Provincial Federation of Labor must directly manage and direct grassroots unions. Therefore, it requires a more flexible, tighter and more professional operating mechanism to ensure smoothness in implementing tasks.
The Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor also suggested that trade unions at all levels of Dien Bien province need to strengthen training and fostering of cadres, especially attaching importance to grassroots trade union cadres, promoting dialogue and collective bargaining to solve problems such as wages, bonuses, and working conditions, in particular paying special attention to female workers and laborers in disadvantaged areas.

At the congress, delegates elected the Executive Committee of the Dien Bien Provincial Federation of Labor for the 2025-2030 term with 14 members. Mr. Tan Minh Long was elected to continue as Chairman of the 13th Dien Bien Provincial Federation of Labor, term 2025-2030.
