A solid support for workers

No longer just dry slogan, the Trade Union has gradually become a real support for workers. In industrial parks, timely and practical support actions are the "magnet" to attract new union members. The "Union Shelter" program is a typical example when many workers have been supported to build houses and stabilize their lives.

Ms. Le Thi Tay, a worker at My Phong Leather Shoes Company Limited (Thip Ngai commune), emotionally talked about the new roof: "Currently, my children also have a peaceful learning space, the family is gradually stabilizing and being happier. If it were not for the attention of the Union, I would not know when I would have this roof and peace for my whole family.

In fact, what the Union does for union members is not only material, but also a belief and motivation for workers to feel secure in sticking with and making efforts in their work every day, Ms. Tay added.

Not only providing material support, the Trade Union is also a "legal support" to help protect the rights of workers. Mr. Nguyen Cong Toan (name changed), a worker at a company in Tra Vinh (before the merger), recalls the days when the company was late in paying wages, causing thousands of workers to face difficulties.

"The delay in salary payment directly affects the meals and accommodation of the brothers. When the Provincial Federation of Labor directly worked with the company, the bottleneck was removed, and workers received full salaries. This makes us see that the Union always stands side by side to protect our rights, Mr. Toan shared. These real-life experiences prove that the Trade Union is implementing the motto "talking to the people, making them believe".

Benefits are a key factor

Discussing the plan to develop 20,000 new union members in 2026, Mr. Nguyen Phuc Linh - Chairman of the Vinh Long Provincial Federation of Labor - emphasized: "We identify this goal as not only the reported figure, but also the quality of real cohesion. To want workers to come to us, we must come to them with the most tangible and practical benefits.

According to Mr. Linh, the strategy of the Provincial Federation of Labor this year is based on three pillars: Innovation in propaganda work, improving the quality of the grassroots team and implementing "Union member welfare" packages.

"Not only present with banners or slogans, but also directly going to boarding houses and production workshops to listen to workers. The 24h Trade Union groups on Zalo and Facebook will answer questions about insurance and wages, helping workers clearly see the role of the organization in protecting their rights, Mr. Linh emphasized.

To achieve the target of 20,000 union members, the Provincial Federation of Labor focuses on training grassroots cadres. These are people who are close to the brink, playing a bridging role in helping businesses and workers connect. Digitizing the union joining process is also important, helping workers register online, access free skills support and legal advice right at the workplace.

In addition to focusing on administrative procedures, Vinh Long Trade Union aims for tangible experiences: Workers clearly see the benefits, feel secure when their rights are protected, and at the same time see the practical presence of the organization. Support programs on housing, health care, and legality are living proof of the philosophy of "taking workers as the center".

The target of 20,000 union members in 2026 is not only a statistical figure but a breakthrough in the way the Union operates.
