Vinh Long Labor Union takes care of sustainable livelihoods for workers

Workers have more support to rise

In 2025, the work of caring for the lives of workers in Vinh Long achieved many positive results. Trade unions at all levels have supported the construction and repair of 99 houses "Union Shelter", "Medicine Shelter", "Love House" reaching 247.5% of the target.

This result shows the great efforts of the Trade Union organization in implementing the goal of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses for union members in difficult circumstances, especially workers in non-state enterprises.

In addition to supporting housing, the Provincial Trade Union pays special attention to giving "fishing rods" for livelihood through revolving capital sources. This approach helps union members have more conditions for economic development and stable long-term income.

Ms. Nguyen Kim Oanh - a garment worker in Ba Tri commune - said that previously, her income was only enough to cover minimum living expenses. The family wants to improve the economy of livestock farming but cannot access safe and suitable capital.

According to Ms. Oanh, the revolving capital of 20 million VND from the Union helped her family buy breeding cows, opening up a direction for socio-economic development. This is the right "fishing rod", creating more confidence and motivation to rise up.

"Not only supporting with capital, the Trade Union has also become a spiritual support. Close attention helps families confidently maintain the livestock model, creating a stable source of income for life", Ms. Oanh added.

Sharing that joy, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hanh - a union member who has just been supported to repair her house - said that the new house helps the family feel more secure in living, no longer worried when the storm is prolonged.

According to Ms. Hanh, when housing is stable, workers have more motivation to work and stick with the enterprise. The concern and support of the Trade Union helps workers feel more confident in life.

Transition from immediate support to sustainable livelihood

In 2025, the work of caring for union members through the programs "Tet Sum Vay - Xuan Ung Deng" and "Union Tet Market" will visit and give gifts to 145,745 union members with a budget of 99 billion VND.

Notably, the "Back of Workers" program implemented by the Provincial Labor Federation has become a highlight in long-term care activities.

Mr. Nguyen Phuc Linh - Chairman of the Vinh Long Provincial Labor Federation - said that after 2 years of implementation, the program has helped 98 union members and workers escape poverty sustainably, affirming the effectiveness of the model.

According to Mr. Linh, the Trade Union clearly identifies its strong rear role, shifting from seasonal support to sustainable security, focusing on housing, livelihoods and long-term welfare programs.

In the coming time, the Provincial Federation of Labor will continue to promote the "Skilled Mass Mobilization" model, applying digital technology to enhance welfare connectivity, bringing policies to the right subjects, more promptly and effectively.

"With a proactive and flexible approach, Vinh Long Trade Union is affirming its role as a reliable support for workers. The "fishing rods" given today for livelihood are the foundation for long-term sustainable security," Mr. Linh added.
