In the atmosphere of the entire Party, people, and army striving to emulate and actively implement the Resolution of the 14th Party Congress; the election of National Assembly deputies of the 16th term and People's Council deputies at all levels for the 2026 - 2031 term and the 1st Session of the 16th National Assembly were successfully held; celebrating the 51st anniversary of the Liberation of the South and national reunification and the 136th birthday of beloved President Ho Chi Minh, I and the leaders and former leaders of the Party, State, and Vietnam Fatherland Front are pleased to attend the Ceremony to celebrate the 140th anniversary of International Labor Day; commending outstanding grassroots trade union presidents in collective dialogue and negotiation in 2026. First of all, I would like to convey my regards and best wishes from Comrade To Lam - General Secretary, President to the leaders and former leaders of the Party, State, Vietnam Fatherland Front and all distinguished delegates attending today's ceremony.
Under the leadership of the Party, Vietnamese workers have been present in all industries and economic sectors, being the core force, leading the cause of industrialization, modernization of the country and international integration. The Vietnam Trade Union has clearly affirmed its role as a large socio-political organization of the working class, a reliable support for union members and workers, operating more and more practically, effectively, deeply and substantively; organizing many very meaningful movements, ensuring better and better the legitimate and lawful rights and interests of workers.
In particular, the Trade Union organization proactively and actively proposes and participates in building and perfecting policies and laws related to workers; focuses on dialogue and collective bargaining activities; every year, tens of thousands of dialogues are organized, promptly resolving thousands of opinions and recommendations of union members and workers; many collective labor agreements are signed, contributing to improving working conditions, increasing income and welfare for union members and workers.
At today's anniversary ceremony, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor commended 101 outstanding grassroots trade union presidents in collective dialogue and negotiation. This shows that the General Confederation has thoroughly grasped and seriously implemented the direction of General Secretary and President To Lam as: "Trade unions return to their proper functions: Periodic dialogue, substantive collective negotiation, protection of workers' rights...".
On behalf of the Party and State leaders, I congratulate and commend 101 outstanding and typical grassroots trade union presidents. They are the embodiment of the new generation of trade union officials, typical examples of the workers' movement and trade union activities.
The entire Party, the entire people, and the entire army are joining hands, united, striving, and determined to achieve the goal of the country developing rapidly and sustainably, and the people's lives constantly improving, I propose that trade union levels continue to focus on performing well a number of key tasks as follows:
First, continue to thoroughly grasp and effectively implement the Resolution of the 14th Party Congress, the Resolution of the 11th National Congress of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, the Resolution of the 14th Vietnam Trade Union Congress and the program and work plan for the term and annually.
Trade union levels thoroughly grasp the tasks, focus on the goal of improving labor productivity and double-digit growth; innovation, practicing thrift, innovating working style, strongly applying science and technology, digital transformation, and artificial intelligence.
Second, promote the role of the Trade Union organization in building a modern and strong working class that is truly pioneering in the cause of industrialization and modernization of the country, making worthy contributions to the international working class movement.
Third, focus on building a team of trade union officials at all levels, especially full-time officials and grassroots trade union presidents who are brave, enthusiastic, enthusiastic, responsible, attached to workers, firmly grasp the development situation of enterprises, and have good working skills and methods.
Fourth, innovate the content and methods of operation, improve the organization, apparatus, and operating model. Focus on improving the effectiveness of dialogue and collective bargaining; propose, build, and improve policies and laws related to workers and trade union organizations. Actively participate in preventing and combating corruption, wastefulness, and negativity, building a clean and strong party and political system.
Fifth, prepare carefully to successfully organize the 14th Vietnam Trade Union Congress for the 2026 - 2031 term; focus on comprehensively assessing the achievements, limitations, and shortcomings of the 2023 - 2026 period, analyzing the causes, and having solutions to overcome them in the next term.
On this occasion, I request Party committees at all levels, authorities, the Vietnam Fatherland Front, mass organizations, and employers to continue to pay attention to directing, coordinating, and creating conditions for the Vietnam Trade Union organization to operate effectively.
Today's anniversary is an opportunity for us to review and affirm the lasting value of International Labor Day, continue to ignite pride in the glorious revolutionary tradition of the working class and the Trade Union organization, create new atmosphere and new motivation, continue to build a modern and strong Vietnamese working class, and the Vietnam Trade Union organization to innovate and develop strongly. At the same time, I hope that the comrades who are commended today will continue to spread, and there will be more and more trade union officials with firm bravery and high responsibility, worthy of being a reliable support for union members and workers trusted and assigned tasks by the Party, State and people.
We believe that, under the leadership of the Party, the workers' movement and trade union activities will have new developments, achieve more achievements, make worthy contributions to the country's renovation and the international workers' movement, together with the entire Party, people, and army to successfully implement the Resolution of the 14th Party Congress, implement the goal of building a peaceful, independent, democratic, prosperous, civilized, and happy Vietnam, firmly moving towards socialism.

Present at the Ceremony to commend 101 outstanding and typical grassroots trade union presidents nationwide, Mr. Nguyen Huy Sang - Chairman of the grassroots trade union of Yamaha Motor Vietnam Parts Production Co., Ltd. said that he felt very honored and proud to be one of the outstanding and typical trade union presidents commended by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor today. This is a great honor not only for him personally but for the entire collective of the Executive Committee of the Trade Union of Yamaha Motor Vietnam Parts Production Co., Ltd.
In yesterday's program, we learned a lot from other units, many recommendations from units have been made. I have a very practical recommendation related to the issue of social housing for our company's workers, especially adding kindergartens for the children of workers as well as other companies in the industrial park. I really hope these policies will soon come into life" - Mr. Nguyen Huy Sang shared.

In the joyful atmosphere of the working class, the Trade Union organization of the whole country is looking towards the historic April and May days, responding to Workers' Month - Action Month on Occupational Safety and Health in 2026; preparing to organize the 14th Congress of the Vietnam Trade Union for the 2026-2031 term... , on the morning of April 28, at the Vietnam - Soviet Friendship Labor Cultural Palace, Hanoi - where 80 years ago took place the meeting to celebrate the first International Labor Day of independent Vietnam (May 1, 1946), the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor (VGCL) organized a solemn ceremony to celebrate the 140th anniversary of International Labor Day (May 1, 1886 - May 1, 2026); commending outstanding and typical grassroots Trade Union (GTU) Presidents in dialogue and collective bargaining in 2026.
Before the commendation ceremony took place, on the occasion of the 140th anniversary of International Labor Day (May 1, 1886 - May 1, 2026), the VGCL organized a parade with the participation of 1,000 workers.
From 5:30 am, workers from 12 units including: Hanoi Labor Federation; People's Police Trade Union; Vietnam National Energy Group Trade Union; Vietnam Bank Trade Union; Vietnam Textile and Garment Trade Union; Vietnam Electricity Trade Union; Vietnam Education Trade Union; Vietnam Coal - Mineral Trade Union; Vietnam Industry and Trade Trade Union; Vietnam Construction Trade Union; Vietnam Health Trade Union; Trade Union University divided into 4 parade blocks present at Thong Nhat Park (Hanoi).
Mr. Dinh Van Hieu, born in 1999, official of the Trade Union office of the Trade Union University, said that he is very excited and honored to participate in the parade to celebrate the 140th anniversary of International Labor Day (May 1, 1886 - May 1, 2026).
Mr. Hieu said that he and the Trade Union members of the University of Trade Unions gathered early in the morning, everyone was excited and nervous. For Mr. Hieu personally, the feeling of pride became even more intense when for the first time he was able to gather with many union members in the trade union organizations of different units and participate in a very meaningful event. "This is the first time I have participated in a parade in the ranks of the trade union, I am very touched. I feel that I need to make more efforts in my work to be worthy of the glorious and heroic tradition of the working class," Mr. Hieu shared.
Standing in the parade with colleagues from Hanoi Urban Environment Company, Ms. Ninh Thi Loan, born in 1988, a garbage collector at Hanoi Urban Environment Company Hoan Kiem branch, said that she has worked at the company for 20 years, this is the first time she has participated in the parade on International Labor Day.
I am very proud. From early morning, I have felt the bustling atmosphere, the immortal spirit of the working class. I feel more love for the industry and for the profession and strive harder to be worthy of the glorious tradition of the working class and trade union organization," Ms. Loan said.
The parade departs at 8 am on April 28 from Tran Nhan Tong - Tran Binh Trong street to the Vietnam - Soviet Friendship Labor Culture Palace (Hanoi). The parade participants are trade union members, typical workers from many industries and fields. The parade blocks will show the spirit of solidarity, discipline, creativity and aspiration to rise up of workers in the new era.
Through this activity, the VGCL wishes to spread the message about building a modern and strong working class; and at the same time affirm the role of the Trade Union organization in caring for and protecting the legitimate and lawful rights and interests of union members and workers.
After the parade, there will be a ceremony to celebrate the 140th anniversary of International Labor Day and commend outstanding grassroots trade union presidents in collective dialogue and negotiation in 2026.
This is an opportunity to review the heroic historical tradition of struggle of the communist and international workers' movement; honor the contributions of the working class and the Vietnam Trade Union organization in the cause of building and protecting the Fatherland; encourage and motivate union members and workers nationwide to emulate in labor production, contributing to the whole country to successfully achieve the goal of double-digit growth.
