Trade unions include labor safety content in collective labor agreements

On August 27, the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology (CĐKHCN) said that after 30 years (1996-2026) of implementing the movement "Green - Clean - Beautiful, Ensuring occupational safety and health", propaganda on occupational safety and health (ATVSLĐ), improving working conditions, protecting the environment and building green - clean - beautiful workplaces has been identified by the CĐKHCN as an important content in the work of caring for, representing and protecting the legitimate and lawful rights and interests of union members and workers.

Trade unions at all levels have coordinated with professional departments to propagate and disseminate legal regulations on OSH; integrate content on accident prevention, occupational diseases, environmental sanitation, fire prevention and fighting, incident response and building a safe culture into trade union activities, employee conferences, dialogues at the workplace, Workers' Month and Action Month on OSH. Through this, the awareness of trade union officials, union members and workers has been clearly raised; the awareness of complying with regulations and safe working procedures has been gradually improved and enhanced.

In the period from 2020-2026, the number of grassroots trade unions organizing the launch of OSH work averaged over 96% annually; the number of union members and workers trained in OSH reached an average of 53.612 people/year; the budget of units and businesses invested in OSH reached an average of 158 billion VND/year. Propaganda work has contributed to changing awareness from "overcoming consequences" to proactively preventing risks, building a safe and responsible working environment for the environment.

Up to now, after 30 years of implementing the OSH movement, the S&T Union through specific activities such as participating in the OSH council, employee conferences, and dialogues at the workplace to propose to employers to implement preventive measures; including content related to OSH, environment and working conditions in dialogues and collective labor agreements.

The period 2020-6. 2026 has over 10 contents on safety, health, and environment put into dialogue or collective labor agreements by unit and enterprise trade unions. In particular, on average, there are 62 initiatives annually, estimated to bring benefits of over 3 billion VND/year for workers in improving the environment, working conditions, energy saving, improving equipment safety and labor organization, creating practical value.
