What tasks do university lecturers have from April 2026?

Clause 1, Article 3, Circular 26/2026/TT-BGDĐT of the Ministry of Education and Training regulating professional standards for university lecturers (effective from April 9, 2026), stipulates the tasks of lecturers, including:

a) Teaching, guiding and evaluating graduation projects and theses of the university-level training program; participating in teaching the master's and doctoral training programs and guiding and evaluating master's and doctoral dissertations if they meet the standards according to regulations; guiding discussions, practice, experiments and internships; participating in academic advisory work;

b) Participating in building and developing training programs; presiding over the development of training programs for modules taught by lecturers in charge;

c) Presiding over or participating in compiling textbooks, reference books, monographs, guidebooks, translating books and textbooks (hereinafter referred to collectively as training books);

d) Organizing and participating in scientific, technological and innovation activities; writing and participating in scientific reports at conferences and scientific seminars; participating in evaluating projects or topics or contracts for scientific and technological services at relevant levels, student scientific research topics; participating in international cooperation activities and ensuring the quality of higher education;

e) Studying and fostering political theory, expertise, and professional skills; participating in practical activities to improve the quality of training and scientific research;

e) Presiding over or participating in career development and community service;

g) Participating in management work, Party and mass organization work as assigned;

h) Perform other tasks assigned by the head of the higher education institution or the head of the unit under, directly under the higher education institution decentralized according to the assigned authority in accordance with the standards on professional capacity of lecturers and other relevant legal regulations.

Thus, from April 9, 2026, university lecturers have the above tasks.
