Reduced teaching period quota for teachers raising young children

The Lao Dong Newspaper Legal Consulting Office replied:

Article 12 of Circular 05/2025/TT-BGDDT of the Ministry of Education and Training stipulates the working regime for general education and university transfer teachers, and stipulates the regime of reducing teaching hours for other subjects as follows:

1. Teachers during the probationary period are reduced by 02 periods/week.

2. Female teachers raising children under 12 months old teaching at primary schools will have their time reduced by 04 hours/week; teaching at other educational institutions will have their time reduced by 03 hours/week.

3. Teachers who are on medical examination and treatment (not exceeding the prescribed time) with the consent of the school principal and confirmation from the competent medical examination and treatment facility will not have to make up for the teaching periods assigned according to the plan and this number of teaching periods will be included in the teaching period quota of teachers.

Thus, female teachers raising children under 12 months old teaching at primary schools will have their time reduced by 04 periods/week; teaching at other educational institutions will have their time reduced by 03 periods/week.
