How to calculate teachers' overtime salary from September 2025
A reader with email thuvanxxx@gmail.com asked: According to the new regulations, how is the salary for teachers who teach extra hours calculated?
The Lao Dong Newspaper Legal Consulting Office replied:
Article 5 of Circular 21/2025/TT-BGDDT of the Ministry of Education and Training (effective from September 23, 2025) stipulates overtime wages as follows:
1. The salary for 01 teaching period of a teacher is determined as follows:
2. Salary for 01 extra teaching period = Salary for 01 teaching period x 150%.
3. Salary for extra teaching hours/school year = Number of extra teaching hours/school year x Salary for 01 extra teaching session.
4. The overtime salary for teachers prescribed in Clause 2, Article 2 of this Circular shall comply with the provisions on overtime salary of the law on labor.
Thus, from September 23, 2025, teachers' overtime teaching salaries are calculated as above.
