Requesting permission to relocate and cut down nearly 100 trees to open a 50m wide road in Hanoi's center
Hanoi - The authorities are asking for a license to cut down and move nearly 100 trees to implement the Ring Road 1 project, Hoang Cau - Voi Phuc section.
The Hanoi City Civil Works Construction Investment Project Management Board has just sent a document to the People's Committee of Ngoc Khanh Ward (Ba Dinh District) to coordinate in notifying the plan to handle trees within the scope of site clearance for the Ring Road 1 construction project, Hoang Cau - Voi Phuc section.
Accordingly, the Hanoi City Civil Works Construction Investment Project Management Board will apply for a license to cut down and move trees and organize the implementation expected from April to the end of August 2025.
The City Civil Works Construction Investment Project Management Board also proposed a plan to cut down, move, care for and collect, and liquidate wood. In particular, for shade trees, the relocated trees are 74 trees belonging to urban trees and other types of trees, such as: Bang ta, da lan, than, sanh, si, khi, ca cu, sung.
This number of trees was planted on a fixed basis and cared for at plot No. 9 at Vinh Ngoc intersection, Dong Anh district for 12 months before being handed over to the City People's Committee for management.
The number of trees cut down includes 24 trees, which are not on the list of urban trees and urban trees that are bent, rotten, old, or dead.
Regarding the work of reclaiming wood and firewood from cut down trees, the Project Management Board will gather and store them at the contractor's warehouse and organize the liquidation of wood and firewood to pay money to the state budget according to current regulations and instructions of the Department of Finance.
The Hoang Cau - Voi Phuc section of Ring Road 1 is 2.2km long, with a total investment of more than VND 7,200 billion. Of which, the cost of site clearance is 5,800 billion VND, the construction cost is 636 billion VND and some other costs.
The project must clear the land of more than 2,000 households in Ba Dinh and Dong Da districts. This project was approved in December 2017, expected to be completed in 2020, but has been behind schedule for many years.
When completed, the road will have a cross-section of 50m, contributing to reducing traffic congestion on La Thanh Street, while enhancing connectivity with the central area of the capital, making traffic more convenient.
