Vietnam Airlines opens T3 terminal with Chim Lac-shaped flight
Vietnam Airlines said that on the occasion of the opening of Terminal T3, the airline had a special flight with the image of Chim Lac.
Vietnam Airlines flight VN244, the route from Ho Chi Minh City to Hanoi, operated by Boeing 787-9 aircraft with the VN-A868 registration number, carrying the Golden Eagle symbol, carrying 229 passengers, took off at 9:30 a.m. from Terminal T3, Tan Son Nhat Airport.
This is the official flight of the opening of Terminal T3, marking the moment the most modern passenger terminal in the country began operating.
Previously, at 8:00 a.m. the same day, flight VN243 from Hanoi operated by Vietnam Airlines, also on the Boeing 787 with the image of Chim Lac, landed in Ho Chi Minh City, becoming the first commercial flight to arrive and use Terminal T3.
The plane was solemnly welcomed with a dragon hop spraying ceremony, a tradition in the aviation industry for flights with special milestones.
The time the T3 terminal was put into operation also coincided with the occasion towards the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025), further highlighting the symbolic image of the Chim Lac, representing the aspiration to fly high, reach far and the eternal spirit of the Vietnamese people.
At the inauguration event, Mr. Dang Ngoc Hoa - Chairman of the Board of Directors of Vietnam Airlines - shared: "The official operation of Terminal T3 is a big step forward in the process of modernizing aviation infrastructure. Vietnam Airlines is honored to accompany you with a special flight with the image of the Chim Lac, a symbol of the nation's high-altitude aspiration, right on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the country's reunification. This is a testament to our commitment to improving service quality, pioneering innovation and spreading Vietnamese identity on the journey to the world.
Also on this occasion, Vietnam Airlines officially opened the new Bong Sen Guest House at Terminal T3. Located on the 4th floor with an area of 330m2, the living room offers luxury and amenities for Business guests, high-class Golden Lotus members, VIP guests and other priority groups.
From 0:00 on April 19, flights between Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City of Vietnam Airlines have been transferred to operation at Terminal T3. It is expected that by April 28, the entire domestic flight network of the airline will complete the transition to the new terminal, except for flights between Ho Chi Minh City and Con Dao, Rach Gia, and Ca Mau that continue to operate at terminal T1 as at present.
The operation of Terminal T3, the largest and most modern passenger terminal in the country, along with strong innovations in Vietnam Airlines' operations once again affirms the pioneering role of Vietnam Airlines.
