In 2026, the retirement age of military officers is determined according to military ranks and the roadmap for increasing the general retirement age.
Information related to the retirement age regulation for military officers applied in 2026 has received much attention from readers.
Currently, the age of active service of officers is stipulated in Article 13 of the Law on Officers of the Vietnam People's Army. Accordingly, the maximum age limit for officers serving in the army is calculated according to military rank.
The age of active service of Lieutenant officers is 50; major is 52; lieutenant colonel is 54; lieutenant colonel is 56; colonel is 58; general is 60.
The retirement age of employees is stipulated in Article 169 of the Labor Code.
Before 2021, the retirement age for male workers was 60 years old, for female workers was 55 years old. From 2021, the retirement age of employees in normal working conditions will be 60 years and 3 months for male employees and 55 years and 4 months for female employees.
After 2021, it will increase by 3 months each year for male workers and 4 months for female workers. The roadmap for increasing the retirement age extends until reaching 62 years old for male workers in 2028 and 60 years old for female workers in 2035.
Thus, according to the above roadmap for increasing the retirement age, the retirement age in 2026 for male workers in normal working conditions is 61 years and 6 months, for female workers is 57 years old.
According to the Law on Social Insurance, the retirement age of soldiers is 5 years lower than the retirement age prescribed for other labor groups.
Therefore, in 2026, when there are 15 years of social insurance contributions, male officers will be entitled to receive a monthly pension when they are 56 years and 6 months old, female officers will be 52 years old.
Soldiers are only allowed to retire 10 years earlier than the regulation in cases such as working in arduous, toxic, dangerous jobs; working in areas with particularly difficult socio-economic conditions; having a reduced working capacity from 61% to less than 81%...
If falling into the above cases, in 2026, when having paid social insurance for 15 years, male officers will be entitled to retire with a monthly pension when they are 51 years and 6 months old, female officers will be 47 years old.
