The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Home Affairs - the Standing Agency of the Ho Chi Minh City Election Commission - has handed over all dossiers and documents of candidates to the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City. The dossier includes a summary of the curriculum vitae, a summary biography copy and a declaration of assets and income of the candidates.
According to Ms. Truong Thi Bich Hanh - Member of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee, Standing Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, the Fatherland Front plays a particularly important role in election work, especially in organizing consultation conferences to select and introduce candidates and meetings with voters before the election.
Up to now, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City has coordinated with agencies, units, and localities to successfully organize the first consultation conference and is preparing to organize the second consultation conference on the morning of February 3.
Previously, the National Election Council approved Ho Chi Minh City's proposal to organize early voting in the election of National Assembly deputies of the 16th term and People's Council deputies at all levels for the 2026 - 2031 term. The early voting time is expected to start from February 26, 2026, 17 days earlier than the national election day (March 15).
According to the plan of the Ho Chi Minh City Election Commission, early voting is organized in four areas of Phuoc Thang ward, Tam Thang ward and Long Son commune, with about 4,538 voters. These are forces performing special tasks at sea, islands, oil and gas rigs, warships and DK1 rigs, and cannot return to the mainland on the same day as the general election.
To ensure citizens' voting rights, Ho Chi Minh City will use helicopters and specialized ships to bring ballot boxes to offshore areas, helping more than 4,500 voters complete their voting obligations in accordance with regulations.
Ms. Truong Thi Bich Hanh noted that early election organization requires the steps and procedures to be implemented with a more urgent pace, in which special attention should be paid to completing on time the consultations, taking opinions and confidence of voters at the place of residence for candidates.
Due to the large scale and many specific areas, Ms. Truong Thi Bich Hanh requested relevant units to closely coordinate, ensuring that the entire election work takes place in accordance with procedures, on schedule and safely and effectively.
