General Secretary To Lam and his wife begin a state visit to South Korea

On the afternoon of August 10, 2025 (local time), General Secretary To Lam and his wife, along with a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation, arrived in Seoul, starting a state visit to Korea from August 10 to 13 at the invitation of President Lee Jae Myung and his wife.

This is the first State visit to Korea by General Secretary To Lam in his new position. The fact that the Korean side invited General Secretary To Lam to visit as the first " guests" since President Lee Jae Myung took office shows the Korean side's importance to its relationship with Vietnam as well as to the General Secretary personally.

This will be an opportunity for the two sides to conduct in-depth strategic exchanges, identify directions and measures to develop bilateral relations substantially, comprehensively and effectively; at the same time, open up new development orientations to important and potential areas of cooperation, especially in science and technology, innovation, digital transformation, including semiconductor energy, cooperation in artificial intelligence, etc.

The visit is also an opportunity for Vietnam to convey a message to Korean friends and the international community of determination and aspiration to build a rich and strong country, attracting maximum international resources to serve development goals in the new era of the nation.

The visit more clearly demonstrates the foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, multilateralization, diversification, proactiveness, active, comprehensive, extensive and effective international integration and is also an important foreign activity to promote the implementation of Resolution No. 59 of the Politburo on international integration in the new situation.
