General Secretary To Lam attends the 80th Anniversary Ceremony of the General Department of Defense Industry

On the morning of September 15, in Hanoi, the General Department of Defense Industry held a ceremony to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the Traditional Day (September 15, 1945 - September 15, 2025) and received the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces.

General Secretary To Lam - Secretary of the Central Military Commission attended. Also attending the ceremony were General Phan Van Giang - Politburo member, Deputy Secretary of the Central Military Commission, Minister of National Defense; Mr. Phan Dinh Trac - Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Internal Affairs Commission.

On September 15, 1945, President Ho Chi Minh signed the Decree to establish the Military Department under the Ministry of National Defense - the predecessor of the General Department of Defense Industry (GDND) today.

After 8 decades of building, fighting and growing, generations of cadres, workers and soldiers in the military sector - General Department of Military Command have always promoted the spirit of responsibility, solidarity, proactiveness, self-reliance, creativity, overcoming all difficulties, building a clean and strong Party Committee of the General Department of Military Command, a comprehensively strong General Department "exemplary, typical", excellently completing the tasks assigned by the Party, State, Central Military Commission, Ministry of National Defense and the people.

According to Major General Le Ngoc Than - Chief of Political Affairs of the General Department of Defense Industry, in recent years, thoroughly grasping and implementing the Resolution of the Politburo and the General Department of Natural Resources and Environment has been proactive, constantly striving to rise up, strongly promoting the tradition of "Solidarity, self-reliance, proactiveness, science", focusing on breakthroughs in scientific research in 5 main directions: Developing new weapons and technical equipment (VKTBKT); repairing and modernizing VKTBKT; producing technical supplies; improving product quality; applying new technology, modernizing production lines.

Through scientific research activities and tasks, this agency has developed new products, modernizing hundreds of types of weapons, ammunition, equipment, technical supplies, and new equipment to replace imports. In particular, many types of VKTBKT have high scientific - technological content, integrated with systems, and are of important significance in military and economic fields such as: XCB-01 infantry fighting vehicle; XTC-01, XTC-02; artillery... promptly meeting the requirements of the Army's equipment, training, and combat readiness tasks, serving important national and international events.
