Decree 73 bonus for public teachers is up to 16.3 million VND
The Decree 73 bonus of each school will be different. Some schools in Thanh Hoa give teachers who have completed their tasks excellently a reward of up to 16.3 million VND.
Decree 73 Bonus: Some places teachers receive more than 16 million VND
At this time, the Decree 73 Bonus is an issue of concern to many teachers.
Previously, before Decree 73, most public schools did not have a budget to pay Tet bonuses to teachers. But from 2025, civil servants and public employees in general will have additional extraordinary bonuses and annual periodic bonuses according to Decree 73/2024/ND-CP.

The bonus under Decree 73 of cadres, civil servants and public employees is not paid in the form of being equal or attached to the salary coefficient. Units can plan to pay bonuses for each first 6 months of the year and the last 6 months of the year, based on the assessment results to create additional income, especially for contract teachers who have many recommendations on this.
The annual bonus fund is specifically determined, not included in the reward fund according to the Law on Emulation and Commendation, at a level equal to 10% of the total salary fund according to the position, title, rank, level and military rank of the subjects on the salary list of the agency or unit, excluding allowances.
With this calculation, teachers at different educational institutions will receive Decree 73 bonuses at different levels.
According to Lao Dong, most schools divide the bonuses into 2 parts: Sudden and regular. The special allowance will be for teachers with many achievements in the year such as certificates of merit, certificates of merit, awards in competitions, etc. Many schools in Hanoi pay teachers from about 10 to 12 million VND, depending on the level of task completion. The review and payment can be done once every 6 months or calculated annually.
In Thanh Hoa, there is a school that pays teachers the highest bonus of up to 16.3 million VND.
"I received a bonus of Decree 73 of 13.8 million VND, corresponding to the level of good completion of the season. Some teachers who have completed their tasks excellently received about 16.3 million VND, while teachers who have completed their tasks received more than 11 million VND", Ms. Le Thi Hang - a junior high school teacher in Thanh Hoa - shared.
Ms. Le Hanh - a high school teacher in Quang Ngai - also received the Decree 73 bonus in December 2025: "My school divides it according to the level of task completion to reward. The highest level is 12.3 million VND, applied to teachers who have completed their tasks excellently".
While many teachers are happy to have received the Decree 73 bonus right before the New Year, Ms. Nguyen Nga, a primary school teacher in Hanoi, is anxiously waiting for this bonus.
Ms. Nga's school considers a bonus every 6 months. The bonus for completing tasks well is about more than 6 million VND.
"We will receive this bonus after the Lunar New Year," Ms. Nga said.
How to calculate Decree 73 bonuses
According to Decision 786/QD-BNV in 2024 on the Regulations on implementing the bonus regime of the Ministry of Home Affairs, the method of determining the basic periodic bonus level is as follows:
Basic periodic bonus = Total annual periodic bonus expenditure/ [(number of individuals completing tasks excellently x 3.0) + (number of individuals completing tasks well x 2.4) + (number of individuals completing tasks x 1.0)].
On that basis, the specific bonus level is determined as follows:
Individuals who have completed their tasks excellently: Receive 3 times the basic periodic bonus.
Individuals who complete their tasks well: Receive 2.4 times the basic periodic bonus.
Individuals who complete their tasks: Receive the basic periodic bonus.
For teachers in non-public schools, according to Article 104 of the 2019 Labor Code, the Tet bonus will be based on the results of the school's activities and the level of work completion of the teachers.
The bonus regulations will be decided by the employer and publicly announced at the workplace after consulting with the employee representative organization at the facility.
