Prime Minister inspects North-South expressway, requests effective operation

On March 1st, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and the Central Working Delegation inspected the site of the North-South Expressway project in the east, passing through Quang Ngai and Gia Lai provinces.

Reporting to the Prime Minister, Project Management Board 2 (Ministry of Construction) said that the component project of the Quang Ngai - Hoai Nhon expressway has a length of 88km, of which the section through Quang Ngai province is 60.3km long.

The project started construction on January 1, 2023; by December 19, 2025, technical traffic has been opened and fire prevention and fighting acceptance procedures for tunnels on the route have been completed. The locations that need to adjust the design and supplement site clearance have been zoned, with handling plans, ensuring operational safety.

At the entrance of the Binh De mountain expressway tunnel (Quang Ngai - Hoai Nhon expressway component project), the Prime Minister acknowledged, praised and highly appreciated the spirit of responsible work, through holidays, through Tet of officials, engineers, and workers at the construction site with the motto "only discuss doing, not discussing retreating", "eating quickly, sleeping urgently"...

The Prime Minister thanked the construction units, especially noting that Gia Lai and Quang Ngai provinces have well implemented mass mobilization, relocation, compensation, and site clearance; proactively coordinated, received and handed over from the investor, and deployed subsequent tasks to ensure safety and efficiency. Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh also thanked the contractor units for completing many important items, especially 3 mountain-crossing expressway tunnels with a total length of 4,500m on the Quang Ngai - Hoai Nhon expressway.

The Prime Minister emphasized the requirement for units and localities to focus on putting expressway projects through the South Central region into operation, avoiding waste.

For Gia Lai and Quang Ngai provinces, the Prime Minister requested the two localities to proactively study and plan new development spaces, maximizing the remaining space when the expressway is cleared...

The Prime Minister requested localities to pay attention to the lives of people who have given up land and moved to resettlement areas to serve the project, ensuring living conditions in new places not only equal but must be better than before.

The North - South expressway in the east phase 2 through the South Central region includes 4 component projects: Quang Ngai - Hoai Nhon; Hoai Nhon - Quy Nhon; Quy Nhon - Chi Thanh and Chi Thanh - Van Phong, with a total length of 286km, total capital of about 66. 270 billion VND.

On this occasion, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and the working delegation visited, encouraged and presented gifts to engineers and workers working at Binh De tunnel.
