Prime Minister cuts ribbon to inaugurate new Phong Chau bridge

The new Phong Chau bridge project is about 652.88m long. Starting point from Km0+00 (about Km21+50.0/National Highway 32C avoiding the old Viet Tri city), in Phung Nguyen commune, Phu Tho province; ending point Km0+652.88 (about Km18+551.4/National Highway 32C), in Van Xuan commune, Phu Tho province.

Of which, the length of Phong Chau bridge is about 383.3m (to the end of the abutment); the road section at both ends of the sliding bridge connecting to the existing road on the Phung Nguyen commune side is about 113.8m; on the Van Xuan commune side is about 155.78m.

During the project construction process, the contractor appointed as Truong Son Construction Corporation has upheld the highest sense of responsibility, developed a scientific and detailed construction plan and plan; mobilized enough human resources, financial resources, and modern machinery to focus on organizing the construction of "3 shifts" and "4 teams".

As a result, the investment project to build the new Phong Chau bridge - National Highway 32C, Phu Tho province was built according to the Emergency Construction Order and was completed within 9 months, 3 months shorter than the contract.

It is expected that the project will be completed with a total cost of about 438.796 billion VND, an excess of nearly 196.6 billion VND compared to the total investment, an excess of more than 361.2 billion VND compared to the Prime Minister's Capital allocation Decision (800 billion VND).

The remaining capital after this construction is being proposed by the Ministry of Construction to be used to invest in upgrading and expanding the road connecting the new Phong Chau bridge with the inter-regional road, about 5km long, level III road standards, with a total estimated investment of about 150 billion VND, implementation period from 2025 - 2027.

Also on the morning of September 28, many people in Phu Tho province came to watch the inauguration ceremony, everyone was delighted when an important traffic project was opened to traffic and put into use after many months of waiting since the old bridge collapsed on September 9, 2024.

Mr. Tran Van Hieu - a resident of Xuan Lung commune, Phu Tho province (Xuan Huy commune, old Lam Thao district) - excitedly said: "Our people have been waiting every day for the new Phong Chau bridge to open to traffic, from last night to the inauguration ceremony this morning as if opening a festival, no project has ever made everyone so interested and looking forward to it".

The invested project has promptly handled the collapse of the old Phong Chau bridge on National Highway 32C, ensuring urgency, quickly resolving traffic disruptions, overcoming the consequences of storms and floods; promptly connecting the traffic network in the area, creating favorable conditions for people to travel across both sides of the river; supporting socio-economic development, ensuring national defense and security in the area.
