Approving the Project to merge Khanh Hoa and Ninh Thuan provinces
Khanh Hoa - The locality has passed a Resolution approving the merger policy of Khanh Hoa and Ninh Thuan.
On April 28, the 7th Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Council held a thematic session to review and decide on many contents, including the Resolution approving the merger policy of Khanh Hoa and Ninh Thuan provinces and the Project to reorganize commune-level administrative units in Khanh Hoa province.
This project has been discussed, discussed and agreed upon by leaders of Khanh Hoa and Ninh Thuan provinces.
The two localities have also organized a public consultation and received a very high consensus from the people. After the merger, Khanh Hoa province will have a new political - administrative center located in the current Khanh Hoa province.
The new Khanh Hoa province has a natural area of over 8,550 km2, over 2.2 million people and 65 administrative units under its management.
Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Council also approved the Project on rearranging commune-level administrative units in 2025. Accordingly, Khanh Hoa province reorganized 132 communes, wards and towns into 41 new commune-level administrative units (including 29 communes, 11 wards and Truong Sa special zone).
The reorganization of provincial-level administrative units will contribute to strengthening the ability to control sea and island space, ensuring national border security and territorial sovereignty in the new situation.
Through a preliminary survey and initial assessment, the merger policy has received high consensus from local Party committees, authorities and people of the two provinces, especially in the context of the requirement to innovate the growth model and improve public governance efficiency.
