Vinh International Airport will use more than 543 hectares

The land use requirements for Vinh airport are as follows:

Land area managed by civil aviation: 262.708ha.

Land area managed by the military: 238.838ha.

Shared land area: 41.988ha.

The proposed additional land area (compared to Decision No. 769/QD-BGTVT dated May 4, 2019 of the Minister of Transport) is about 96.5 hectares.

This is one of the notable contents in Decision No. 201/QD-BGTVT dated February 19, 2025 approving the Vinh International Airport Planning for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050.

According to the Plan, in the period of 2021-2030, Vinh International Airport will have an airport level 4E (according to the standard code of the International Civil Aviation Organization -ICAO).

The capacity is about 8 million passengers/year and 25,000 tons of goods/year. The type of aircraft used is code C aircraft such as A320/A321 and equivalent, code E aircraft such as B747/B777/B787/A350 and equivalent.

Regarding the runway system, the existing runway extended to the top 17 is planned to be 3,000m x 45m in size, as well as the sidewalk size according to regulations.

Open the existing aircraft parking lot to accommodate about 15 code C aircraft parking locations. Planning the aircraft parking lot in the T2 passenger terminal area to accommodate about 10 aircraft parking locations.

By 2050, Vinh International Airport will have a capacity of about 14 million passengers/year and 35,000 tons of cargo/year. The airport operates code C aircraft such as A320/A321 and equivalent, code E aircraft such as B747/B777/B787/A350 and equivalent.

In this phase, runway No. 2 will be planned with a size of 3,000m x 45m, in the direction of 02-20 to the East of the existing runway, with sidewalk size according to regulations.

At the same time, plan parallel taxiway No. 3 about 180m from the center of runway No. 2 to the West; plan a synchronous taxiway system, a rapid taxiway to connect the parallel taxiway with the runway, a parking lot; and the sidewalk size according to regulations.

Open a flight parking lot in the T2 passenger terminal area to accommodate about 29 flight parking locations; reserve to open the range when needed.
