Quang Nam accelerates economic growth by 10% before merger
Quang Nam leaders have directed drastic and synchronous solutions to help the province achieve the growth target of 10%, right before the threshold of merger.
On April 2, the Quang Nam Provincial Party Committee held the 19th Conference (2nd term) to assess the situation in the first quarter of 2025 and deploy key tasks in the second quarter of 2025. In particular, the conference spent a lot of time discussing challenges and opportunities in the context of administrative boundary mergers.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Luong Nguyen Minh Triet emphasized the positive results achieved in the first quarter of 2025, especially the successful organization of important commemorative activities such as 50 years of Quang Nam Liberation (March 24, 1975 - 24.3.2025) and 95 years of the founding of the Provincial Party Committee (March 28, 1930 - 28.3.2025).
Recalling the challenges ahead when Quang Nam plans to merge with Da Nang, Mr. Triet suggested that delegates focus on discussing solutions to ensure the GRDP growth target of 10% in the context of many changes in organizational structure and administrative boundaries.
Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Nguyen Duc Dung reported on the situation in the first quarter of 2025, notably the arrangement of the apparatus to streamline and improve the effectiveness and efficiency of operations. Quang Nam has reduced 6 departments and branches (from 19 to 13), merged provincial-level specialized agencies and limited the number of district-level consulting agencies.
The socio-economic situation in the first quarter of 2025 recorded bright spots with an estimated GRDP growth rate of 10.2%, total budget revenue of VND 5,376 billion, reaching 22% of the estimate. However, there are still problems such as low disbursement rates and land price fever before administrative merger information.
Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Van Dung emphasized the need for drastic and synchronous solutions to help Quang Nam achieve the growth target of 10%.
