Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Vu Hong Thanh inspects election work in Dien Bien
Dien Bien - Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Vu Hong Thanh inspected and supervised election preparations in Dien Bien province.
On the morning of January 14, the working delegation of the National Assembly Standing Committee and the National Election Council led by Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Vu Hong Thanh inspected and supervised the election work in Dien Bien province.
At the meeting, the provincial leaders reported on the implementation of the election of 16th National Assembly deputies and the election of People's Council deputies at all levels for the 2026-2031 term.
Currently, Dien Bien has established a Provincial Election Steering Committee with 20 members, a Provincial Election Committee with 30 members; 100% of communes and wards have established a Steering Committee, an Election Committee and subcommittees to assist according to regulations.
The whole province is appointed with 3 units to elect National Assembly deputies, electing 7 deputies; 11 units to elect Provincial People's Council deputies, electing 50 deputies; the commune level has 263 units to elect 926 People's Council deputies.

The first consultation work was held on schedule; it is expected to introduce 12 candidates for National Assembly deputies, 96 candidates for Provincial People's Council delegates and 1,686 candidates for Commune People's Council delegates.
In particular, to ensure the election, the province also seconded 27 provincial-level civil servants and public employees to help the commune level carry out the election.
Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Vu Hong Thanh highly appreciated the proactive and serious spirit of Dien Bien province in election preparation.
The Vice Chairman of the National Assembly suggested that the province continue to closely follow the direction of the Central Government; pay attention to creating favorable conditions for National Assembly candidates introduced by the Central Government to the locality.
Along with that, it is necessary to review, update, and supplement the full list of voters, ensuring the voting rights of citizens, especially those who are working or studying far from their residence, people with disabilities, and the elderly; ensuring security, order, and social safety for the election.

Previously (afternoon of January 13), the National Assembly Standing Committee and National Election Council working delegation worked with Bung Lao commune (Dien Bien) on preparations for the election of 16th National Assembly deputies and People's Council deputies at all levels for the 2026-2031 term.
On this occasion, the Working Group presented 50 gifts to families with revolutionary contributions and poor households in the commune.
