Expected traffic projects in 2026
In 2026, many major transport projects across the country are eagerly awaited by the people.
Putting Long Thanh Airport Phase 1 into commercial operation in the first half of 2026

The Long Thanh Airport project is an important national project, approved by the National Assembly in Resolution No. 94/2015/QH13 dated June 25, 2015, with a capacity of 100 million passengers and 5 million tons of goods per year.
The project is divided into 3 investment phases. In which, phase 1 is invested in construction with a passenger terminal with a capacity of 25 million passengers per year, according to the standards of level 4F, the highest level of the International Civil Aviation Organization.
Vietnam Airports Corporation is the unit assigned to be the investor of Component Project 3, including essential works in the airport. The project officially started construction in early 2021.
By December 19, 2025, Long Thanh Airport Phase 1 had inaugurated the projects and welcomed the first flight to land.
According to the plan, in the first half of 2026, Long Thanh Airport Phase 1 will be put into commercial operation.
Complete the entire Ring Road IV parallel road in the second quarter of 2026

Another highly anticipated project is the Hanoi Ring Road 4 project. The project was approved by the National Assembly in 2022, with a length of 112.8 km, passing through Hanoi (58.2 km), Hung Yen (19.3 km), Bac Ninh (25.6 km). The preliminary total investment is VND 85,813 billion.
The project is implemented in 7 component projects, operating independently, assigned by the People's Committees of the three provinces and cities including Hanoi, Hung Yen and Bac Ninh as the managing agencies.
Regarding progress, the National Assembly Resolution clearly states the preparation for investment and implementation of the project from 2022, basically completed in 2026, and put into operation from 2027.
According to information from the Hanoi People's Committee, the Ring Road 4 project of the Capital Region passes through 17 wards and communes, with a total reclaimed land area of 80000. hectares and 9,039 graves that need to be relocated.
To date, wards and communes have completed the construction of 13 out of 13 resettlement areas, completed land acquisition, site clearance, relocation of graves and underground and above-ground works, ensuring project progress.
Regarding the construction progress of the parallel road in Hanoi, about 35 km of asphalt concrete have been constructed so far. The output value reached about 3,575 over VND 4,205 billion, equivalent to about 85%, striving to basically complete the entire parallel road in the second quarter of 2026.
The North-South high-speed railway project is expected to start construction at the end of 2026

The North-South high-speed railway project was approved by the National Assembly in November 2024. The project has a total length of about 1,541 km, starting at Ngoc Hoi Station, Hanoi Capital, ending at Thu Thiem Station, Ho Chi Minh City.
The National Assembly resolved to invest in a new double track with a gauge of 1,435 mm, a design speed of 350 km/h, and a load capacity of 22.5 tons on the axle. The project includes 23 passenger stations and 5 cargo stations. High-speed railways mainly transport passengers, meet dual-use requirements for national defense and security, and can transport goods when necessary.
In terms of technology, the project applies railway technology on rails, electrification, ensuring modernity, synchronization, safety and efficiency.
The North-South high-speed railway project has a total investment of more than 1.713 million billion VND, equivalent to more than 67 billion USD.
The National Assembly resolved to prepare a feasibility study report from 2025, striving to basically complete the project by 2035.
Recently, Minister of Construction Tran Hong Minh requested units under the Ministry to urgently complete reports on specific mechanisms, investment methods and investor selection criteria, in order to ensure the start of the high-speed railway project by the end of 2026.
