Hundred-billion-dong bridges under hydropower plant connect the two banks of the Da River

Up to now, Hoa Binh City has had 3 bridges across the Da River including: Hoa Binh Bridge, Huu Nghi Bridge (formerly known as Hoa Binh 2 Bridge), and Thong Nhat Bridge (formerly Hoa Binh 3 Bridge).

These projects help change the face of the city, connect inter-regional traffic and promote trade and services.

Hoa Binh Bridge was completed in 2001 connecting Tan Thinh Ward with Phuong Lam Ward, with a total investment of about 100 billion VND. This is the first modern concrete bridge in Hoa Binh province, replacing the previous traditional pontoon bridge.

Huu Nghi Bridge connects Quynh Lam Ward with Thinh Lang Ward, started construction in 2019, opened to traffic on October 1, 2022. The bridge is about 780m long, with a total investment of nearly VND591 billion.

Thong Nhat Bridge connects Trung Minh Ward with Thinh Lang Ward, started in 2016, completed in 2020, with a total investment of more than 400 billion VND. The bridge connects National Highway 6 with major roads of Hoa Binh City.

According to the reporter of Lao Dong Newspaper, all 3 bridges are located below the downstream of Hoa Binh Hydropower Plant with a busy number of vehicles passing through.

On both sides of the Da River, many newly formed streets with many spacious restaurants and entertainment areas have sprung up close together, creating a vibrant and bustling urban scene, especially in the evenings and on weekends.

Mr. Bui Van Nam (68 years old, Quynh Lam ward, Hoa Binh city) recalled: In the past, crossing a pontoon bridge was very dangerous, especially during the rainy season, the bridge had to be removed. Now there are three solid bridges, convenient transportation, easy business, and people's lives are much better".

According to Mr. Nam, the bridges not only help people travel safely but also contribute to expanding residential areas and urban areas towards the left bank of the Da River.

Speaking to Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Pham Anh Quy - Chairman of Hoa Binh City People's Committee - said: "The three bridges are essential infrastructure works, contributing to removing traffic bottlenecks, creating favorable conditions for urban development, trade and services. This is an important driving force to promote local socio-economic growth".
