Many important new points in the National Assembly and People's Council elections for the 2026-2031 term
This election has many new points such as organizing local government according to a two-level model; shortening the time to implement the steps in the election process.
On February 26, in Hanoi, Politburo Member, National Assembly Chairman, Chairman of the National Election Council Tran Thanh Man chaired the national online conference to deploy the work of electing National Assembly deputies (NA deputies) of the 16th term and People's Council deputies at all levels for the 2026-2031 term.
The conference was connected online with 34 provincial-level bridge points and 3,321 commune-level bridge points.
Speaking at the opening of the conference, Member of the Party Central Committee, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly, Member of the National Election Council Nguyen Thi Thanh stated clearly that the conference is very important to comprehensively assess the results achieved in election preparation work. Through this, frankly recognize the shortcomings, difficulties, and obstacles, thereby proposing solutions to lead and successfully organize the election of NA deputies and People's Council deputies.
In particular, this election has many new points, being implemented for the first time, which are: organizing local government according to a 2-level model; shortening the time to implement steps in the election process; promoting the application of information technology and digital transformation in election work.
According to Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Nguyen Thi Thanh, it has been 246 days since June 25, 2025, when the National Assembly issued Resolution No. 211 establishing the Council. During that time, we have deployed a very large volume of work.
The Council acknowledged and highly appreciated the spirit, responsibility, and proactiveness of central agencies, local authorities at all levels, and organizations in charge of elections from the Election Steering Committee, Election Commission, Election Commission to the Election Team in localities.
From now until the election day, there are only 17 days left, not much time left but it is a decisive stage, the remaining workload is very important, requiring high concentration, thorough, careful, and synchronous implementation to ensure the overall results and success of the election, an event that more than one million officials from the Central to grassroots levels are striving to join hands to implement" - Vice Chairman of the National Assembly emphasized.
National Assembly Vice Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Thanh added that the Politburo pays special attention to this election and has issued an important Conclusion with 4 contents on: personnel work; electing a sufficient number of National Assembly deputies, including full-time National Assembly deputies at the central level, electing a sufficient number of People's Council deputies; information and propaganda work; and information and reporting regime.
