Reasons for many locations of trees in Can Tho being relocated
Can Tho - The direct cause of the relocation of trees is because the trees are located in the area where a new drainage system has been installed.
In recent days, Can Tho City residents have been surprised and expressed regret when witnessing and thinking about a series of trees on some roads being cut down. The image of large, cool green tree trunks now no longer makes many people feel sorry.

For example, on Tran Van Hoai Street (Ninh Kieu District, Can Tho City), the situation of trees being cut down occurred in many different areas. Some perennial trees with wide canopy and shade also share the same fate.
Regarding the above issue, Mr. Nguyen Thai Bao - Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Ninh Kieu District (Can Tho City) - said that Tran Van Hoai Street is in the process of upgrading. The direct cause of the relocation of trees is the current location of the trees right in the area where a new drainage system has been installed.
The Vice Chairman of Ninh Kieu District People's Committee said that this is only a temporary solution. After the construction of the drainage system is completed and the road surface is expanded according to the plan, the district will replant trees in more suitable locations. The goal is to both ensure urban aesthetics and not affect other technical infrastructure works in the area.

Mr. Le Tien Dung - Director of the Department of Construction of Can Tho City - added that the relocation of trees is part of the implementation of new construction projects in Ninh Kieu District. The Department of Construction has coordinated with the People's Committee of Ninh Kieu District to review and prioritize the maximum retention of existing trees, especially ancient trees with landscape value and long-standing attachment to the people.
The Director of the Department of Construction of Can Tho City said that during the road expansion process, it is inevitable that some trees are within the site clearance area, causing construction obstruction.
Mr. Le Tien Dung added that the Department of Construction and the People's Committee of Ninh Kieu District are aiming for solutions to relocate and preserve trees. Accordingly, affected trees will be brought to a suitable location for care and nurturing. Later, when conditions allow and there are no more problems with the site, these trees will be considered for replanting on other routes.

For the contractor, Mr. Nguyen Hoang Giang - Director of Tri Viet Construction Investment Joint Stock Company - informed that the project to upgrade and expand Tran Van Hoai Street is expected to be completed in July 2025, contributing to solving the flooding problem, improving traffic and improving the quality of life for people.
The project to upgrade and expand Tran Van Hoai Street has a total investment of more than 49.4 billion VND, the project to upgrade and renovate Tran Van Hoai Street is 525m long, with a roadway of 40m. The construction items include upgrading road surfaces, sidewalks, drainage systems, relocating and taking advantage of lighting systems, renovating median strips, installing road signaling systems, technical cages and planting more trees.
