The People's Council of Tien Giang province has just passed a Resolution approving the policy of arranging commune-level administrative units in Tien Giang province in 2025.
According to the Resolution just approved by the People's Council delegates, the number of communes, wards and towns in the province will be significantly reduced, from 164 units to 57 units (including 13 wards and 44 communes) after completing the merger process.
Specifically, in Tan Phu Dong district, 2 communes will be established including: Tan Thoi commune (merging Tan Thoi, Tan Thanh, Tan Phu communes), with an area of 65.83 km2, population of 32,116 people; and Tan Phu Dong commune (merging Phu Thanh, Phu Dong, Phu Tan communes), with an area of 175.15 km2, population of 23,630 people.
Tan Phuoc district and Go Cong city, after the merger, each place will have 4 communes and wards. In Go Cong Tay district, Go Cong Dong district, My Tho city and Cai Lay town, after the merger, each place will have 5 communes and wards.
Cai Lay district and Cho Gao district, after the merger, each place will have 6 communes left.
In Chau Thanh district, after the merger, there are 7 communes left. In Cai Be district, after the merger, there are 8 communes left.
