Binh Ngo Lunar New Year holiday schedule for officials and civil servants in Ho Chi Minh City in 2026

The Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee has just issued a notice on hanging the national flag and having a Lunar New Year holiday in 2026.

Pursuant to the Labor Code and the announcement of the Ministry of Home Affairs on the holiday schedule for holidays and Tet in 2026, cadres, civil servants, public employees and workers will have 5 days off for Tet.

The Tet holiday starts from Monday, February 16, 2026 (ie December 29, At Ty year), to Friday, February 20, 2026 (ie January 4, Binh Ngo year).

Due to the two weekends before and after the holiday, the total Tet holiday for Ho Chi Minh City's officials and civil servants will be extended for 9 consecutive days, from December 27, At Ty year to January 6, Binh Ngo year.

Cadres, civil servants and workers will return to work on Monday, February 23, 2026, the 7th day of Tet.

During the above Tet holiday, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee requests agencies, units, factories, schools, hospitals, armed forces units and households in the city to hang the national flag in accordance with regulations.

For agencies and units that do not implement a fixed holiday on Saturdays and Sundays every week, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee requires that based on specific programs and plans, a suitable holiday schedule is arranged, ensuring compliance with legal regulations and not interrupting professional activities.

The Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee assigned Chairmen of People's Committees of wards, communes, special zones and heads of agencies and units to organize mobilization and remind the suspension of national flags in residential areas and units under their management. At the same time, units must arrange forces to be on duty during Tet, ensure security and order, prevent fire and explosion, safety of agencies, units and public entertainment areas.

In addition, agencies and units are responsible for continuously organizing work, sending staff and civil servants to be on duty to promptly handle unexpected situations that may occur during the Tet holiday; continuing to guide, inspect and supervise disease prevention and control work (if any) in the locality and units under their management.

The Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee also assigned the Department of Agriculture and Environment to preside over and coordinate with relevant departments, branches and units to guide localities to mobilize people, agencies, organize environmental sanitation, ensure aesthetics in residential areas, markets, schools, offices, factories and on the streets during the 2026 Lunar New Year.
