Vietnam Journalists Association organizes a ceremony to celebrate the 75th anniversary of its founding

75 years ago, in Roong Khoa hamlet, Diem Mac commune, Dinh Hoa district, Thai Nguyen province, the Association of Vietnamese Journalists (the predecessor of the Vietnam Journalists Association) held its first Congress.
The event is an important historical milestone for the Vietnamese revolutionary press when those who areofficial journalists have a political - social - professional organization representing and accompanying the nation in the revolutionary cause.
Throughout the national resistance war, the birth of the Association demonstrated the spirit of solidarity, unity, promoting the strength of revolutionary ideals and the commitment of the press team. Through sharp pen names, journalists have fought with the Party for independence, freedom and national reunification. There have been countless veteran journalists - heroes holding a pen - who have fallen on the battlefield, leaving behind blood and bones along with heroes holding guns.
During the period of building socialism in the North, fighting for national reunification and after the country was completely liberated, the Vietnam Journalists Association continuously grew strongly. Journalists' Associations and branches have been established at most central and local press agencies, contributing significantly to professional training, improving professional qualifications, especially political competence for journalists nationwide.
Through the Association's voice, the cause of building socialism in the North was actively promoted; the heroic struggle of the Southern people was deeply reflected; the socio-economic development and prosperity of the country under the leadership of the Party were widely and effectively communicated.
Speaking at the ceremony, journalist Le Quoc Minh - Member of the Party Central Committee, Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department, President of the Vietnam Journalists Association - emphasized that in its 75-year journey, the Vietnam Journalists Association has always promoted its role as a socio-political organization - profession of journalists; constantly innovated methods of operation, meeting the requirements of the new situation. The Association is the voice of the people, a forum for society, actively participating in social supervision and criticism work, contributing to building a clean and strong Party and political system.
At the ceremony, Mr. Phan Xuan Thuy - Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department - congratulated the glorious achievements of the Vietnam Journalists Association and its members over the past 75 years.
2025 is of special significance to the press and the Vietnam Journalists Association: this is the year to summarize the Resolution of the 11th Congress of the Vietnam Journalists Association for the 2020 - 2025 term and also the year to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day (June 21,25 - June 21, 2025).
On this occasion, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department Phan Xuan Thuy suggested a number of issues that the Association needs to pay attention to: thoroughly grasping and strictly implementing the policy of arranging, streamlining, and consolidating socio-political organizations and mass organizations assigned by the Party and the State; repositioning the role and responsibility of the press and the Vietnam Journalists Association in the new era in accordance with the Party's orientation on "building a professional, humane, and modern press and media".
Mr. Phan Xuan Thuy also suggested that the Association promptly make recommendations to the Party, State and Government on mechanisms and policies to support press development; proactively organize activities to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Vietnam Revolutionary Press in a solemn and practical manner, creating a deep impression and strongly spreading in society the glorious historical tradition, the role, position and mission of the Vietnamese revolutionary press in the new revolutionary period.
