Introducing General Luong Tam Quang as a candidate for the 16th National Assembly
General Luong Tam Quang and 3 individuals were introduced to run for the 16th National Assembly.
On the afternoon of January 10, the Ministry of Public Security held a conference to collect voters' opinions at the workplace on those expected to be introduced to run for the 16th National Assembly.
Speaking at the conference, Senior Lieutenant General Tran Quoc To - Deputy Minister of Public Security, said that after the first consultation conference to elect 16th National Assembly deputies on December 4, 2025 of the Presidium of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and the resolution of the National Assembly Standing Committee, the Ministry of Public Security was allocated three people to nominate for 16th National Assembly deputies.
According to the allocation, the Ministry of Public Security has a structure of full-time National Assembly deputies assigned to the National Defense, Security and External Affairs Committee of the National Assembly. Thus, the total number of delegates of the Ministry of Public Security allocated to introduce candidates for the 16th National Assembly is four.
Based on the allocation of the National Assembly Standing Committee, the guidance of the Central agencies, the Central Public Security Party Committee, the leaders of the Ministry of Public Security and the conference of leaders of the Ministry of Public Security introducing candidates for 16th National Assembly deputies, 100% of delegates agreed to introduce the list of four candidates for 16th National Assembly deputies to give opinions at this conference, including:
General Luong Tam Quang, Politburo member, Minister of Public Security; Senior Lieutenant General Le Quoc Hung, member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Minister of Public Security; Lieutenant General Pham Cong Nguyen, Director of the Department of Legal Affairs and Judicial Administration Reform; Colonel Nguyen Trung Kien, Deputy Director of the People's Security Academy - National Assembly delegation structure working full-time at the National Defense, Security and Foreign Affairs Committee of the National Assembly.
At the conference, Deputy Minister Tran Quoc To also approved the standards for National Assembly deputies and the cases that are not eligible to run for National Assembly deputies are stipulated in the Law on the Organization of the National Assembly.
Major General Pham Quang Tuyen, Deputy Director of the Department of Organization and Personnel, Secretary of the Conference, approved the summary biographies of the four people introduced to run for the 16th National Assembly.
On behalf of those who were trusted to nominate candidates for the 16th National Assembly, Deputy Minister Le Quoc Hung sincerely thanked the Central Party Committee of Public Security, the leaders of the Ministry of Public Security and the representatives of voters of the Ministry's agencies for their trust in nominating candidates for the 16th National Assembly.
On the same day, the Ministry of Public Security also held a conference of the expanded Steering Committee to introduce candidates for the 16th National Assembly.
At the conference, delegates expressed their approval and high confidence with 100% of delegates present unanimously agreeing on the list of four people from the Ministry of Public Security to nominate for the 16th National Assembly Delegation, including:
General Luong Tam Quang, Politburo member, Minister of Public Security; Senior Lieutenant General Le Quoc Hung, member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Minister of Public Security; Lieutenant General Pham Cong Nguyen, Director of the Department of Legal Affairs and Judicial Administration Reform; Colonel Nguyen Trung Kien, Deputy Director of the People's Security Academy.
After this conference, the Standing Committee of the Central Party Committee of the Public Security, leaders of the Ministry of Public Security agreed to assign the Department of Organization and Personnel to coordinate with relevant organizations and individuals to urgently complete documents and procedures to ensure the submission of candidates' documents within the prescribed time limit.
