Ms. Nguyen Thi Huong, a worker currently renting a house in Hoa Khanh ward (Da Nang city), said that she was surprised when the price of chili increased 2-3 times compared to normal days.

Normally, I buy 5-6 chili fruits for 3,000 VND, but today the seller only wants to sell 3,000 more chili. Previously, buy raw or vegetables or sell some chili, now no.

From the time the vegetable prices increased until now, I did not dare to buy vegetables because they were too expensive. Today, I came home from work to buy some chili, bean sprouts, vegetables with 2 tomatoes for 15,000 VND. "pet is more expensive than meat," Ms. Huong said.

Sharing the same surprise, Ms. Tran Thu Huyen (Lien Chieu ward, Da Nang city) said that the price of chili was unprecedentedly high.

"The price of green rice is already high, now the price of chili has increased to skyrocketing. Normally, I buy about 30,000 VND for the company, which is enough, now I have to buy half a deposit for more than 70,000 VND to be enough, Ms. Huyen shared.

"Usually there are many goods and the price is cheap, so when customers buy vegetables, I often give them a pinch of chili. However, in recent days, import prices have increased too much, so we have been forced to sell at the right price.

Previously, I imported 1-2kg of chili per day, but now I only dare to take less than 1kg because it is too expensive, and I am afraid that if I sell it all, I will lose money," said a trader at Hoa Khanh market.

Faced with the sharp increase in the price of green vegetables and fresh chili, many families in Da Nang have chosen to buy short-term vegetable varieties to plant to reduce living expenses.

However, the increase in vegetable prices also directly affects the meals of many families, especially those with average incomes. Many people said that every time they go to the market, they have to calculate more carefully, cut down on the amount of vegetables purchased or switch to cheaper foods to balance their spending.
