Nearly 2,000 surveillance cameras, detecting more than 84,500 traffic violations in Ho Chi Minh City
The system of nearly 2,000 traffic surveillance cameras in Ho Chi Minh City has detected more than 84,500 violations from the beginning of 2026 to date.
On March 16, the Traffic Police Department (CSGT) of Ho Chi Minh City Police said that it is currently managing, operating and exploiting a traffic surveillance camera system with nearly 2,000 devices.
The camera system is installed in many key areas of the city, not only in the central area but also on key traffic routes.
This system is also connected along National Highway 1, the section passing through Ho Chi Minh City from the area bordering Dong Nai province to the bordering Tay Ninh province. In addition, some areas in Ba Ria - Vung Tau and Binh Duong provinces previously also maintained surveillance camera systems to serve traffic management.
Through an automatic monitoring system combined with direct recording images on the road, from the beginning of 2026 to now, the Traffic Police Department has detected more than 84,500 cases of traffic safety violations.
Common violations include: speeding, not complying with traffic lights, parking in violation of regulations, not complying with traffic signs, going against traffic or entering prohibited roads and prohibited areas.
In addition, some cases of driving vehicles on sidewalks for pedestrians, stopping vehicles on the road causing traffic obstruction are also fully recorded by the camera system to serve the handling of violations.
In addition to the fixed camera system, the traffic police force also directly recorded, monitored and detected violations during patrols and inspections on roads.
According to the Traffic Police Department of Ho Chi Minh City Police, handling violations through camera systems, often called "cold fines", is not intended to cause difficulties for traffic participants but to raise awareness of law compliance, contributing to building a civilized and safe traffic environment.
The Traffic Police Department of Ho Chi Minh City Police also encourages people to provide information and images about traffic violations, accidents or traffic congestion so that functional forces can promptly receive and handle them.
