Vietnam rescue team stops search and rescue in Myanmar
The Vietnamese rescue team completed the search and rescue after 1 week of supporting the recovery of the consequences of the earthquake in Myanmar.
According to the National Civil Defense Steering Committee, on April 6, the Vietnamese rescue team stopped search and rescue work in Myanmar and gathered and counted medical equipment and supplies.
Accordingly, the Vietnamese commander had 2 meetings with the leaders of the Myanmar Rescue Department, chaired by the Minister of Social Security and Social Resettlement of Myanmar. Here, the government of the neighboring country thanked the Vietnamese rescue team.
As of 5:30 p.m. on April 6, the rescue team of the Ministry of National Defense and the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam had discovered and removed 28 bodies of victims from the rubble in Myanmar, saving 1 person.
During the rescue process in Myanmar, the Vietnamese delegation also organized medical examination and treatment, provided free medicine, donated to support local people, and presented 40 tons of dry food to Myanmar to support people in areas affected by earthquakes.
In addition, during their duty in the collapsed areas, the delegation discovered and handed over many valuable assets to families in the capital Naypyidaw.
Myanmar expressed its appreciation and gratitude for the efforts and results of the Vietnamese delegation.
Previously, on March 28, a 7.7 earthquake of strong intensity occurred in Myanmar, killing more than 3,000 people, injuring nearly 4,600 people and leaving hundreds missing.
Immediately afterwards, on March 30, more than 100 officers and soldiers of the Vietnam People's Army and the Ministry of Public Security departed for Myanmar to support the country in overcoming the consequences of the earthquake.
As soon as they arrived in the neighboring country, the Vietnamese rescue team struggled day and night to bring many bodies trapped in the rubble back to their relatives.
On April 3, General Phan Van Giang - Minister of National Defense - sent a letter to officers and professional soldiers participating in overcoming the consequences of the earthquake in Myanmar.
In the letter, General Phan Van Giang expressed that officials in the mission did not manage difficulties to coordinate to search and take the victim out of the collapse, handed over to the government of your country.
That activity deeply demonstrates the noble international spirit, the fine traditions of the nation and the noble qualities of Uncle Ho's soldiers.
